Liverpool: Lorenzo Insigne would take Reds’ attack to the next level

ByDylan WalshJurgen Klopp’s side have conceded just 33 goals in all competitions so far this season, making Liverpool one of the best teams in Europe defensively, and one player who has managed to break through the backline and add to that tiny tally is Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne.
The Italian international handed Liverpool one of their few defeats this season in the Champions League group stage as Insigne scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against the Merseyside club, and the Napoli star could one day be seen wearing the Red of Liverpool.
According to Corriere dello Sport via the Mirror, Liverpool are leading the race for the signature of the Italian attacker, with PSG, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan also reportedly interested in Insigne.

The 27-year-old has been one of Serie A’s most lethal finishers in the past few years, scoring 76 goals in 300 appearances for Napoli, and a move to Liverpool could take both the club and player to the next level


Liverpool are plotting a swoop to sign highly-rated Norwich City youngster Ciaren Jones for a bargain summer fee, Football Insider understands.

Jones, 19, has caught the eye for the Championship leaders in this season’s Premier League 2 and he is tipped to become the latest young star to make the breakthrough at Carrow Road.

Whats point in training them if dont use them?

I know mito will say for profit but it shouldnt be for that reason.

Should bring in a rule where you can only buy say a maximum of 3 players for first team and youth and have to make do for season.

Be fairer for everyone?

Liverpool will move for Nicolas Pepe in the coming weeks, according to reports in France. The Lille forward will be hot property in the coming transfer market after 19 goals in Ligue 1 this season – only Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe (30) has scored more. Arsenal have been tracking Pepe for the last year, while Chelsea recently identified the 23-year-old as a replacement for Real Madrid-bound Eden Hazard. Not really. Champ team gets promoted and they can only sign 3 players to strengthen? One team has a great year and lose 4/5 first team players to bigger clubs and you’re only allowing them to buy 3 to replace?

How can a team lose 4/5 players if you can only replace them with 3?

You let that happen then your stupidity deserves everything it gets.

It would make teams use what players they have and not be able to buy their way out of trouble if there is a limit. In this case i picked 3 as the number.

Well different clubs can buy players? If the top 6 all brought 1 player from the same club that club would lose 6 players? And it’s not about letting it happen, what if contracts are running down and have to sell? What if the player goes on strike? We know players have the power these days and if they want to move the club are almost powerless to stop them.

big clubs can deal with this better so in theory you’re punishing smaller clubs who can’t turn down 30m for X player.

I feel if its real than cheslea's transfer ban might be critical here.

but chelsea might buy him anyway and loan back for a year or something... i'm not sure thats possible or not.. but they could pay lille a precontract fee.

For me LFc need to go dothat transfer in may not in july so we will see... FFP might come into play and nothing is done officially might be done til july 1 but we could do the deal and have some offical signing then....

I just don't know if its real.

Fair enough points biscan and unlike jaffa you explained your points.

Now i know what im replying to. Yes players contracts expiring etc can be imune from the ruling. So can replace for free.

Players going on strike sorry but that is tough **** and club should lump it. Why should they be able to buy way out of trouble. Make clubs think twice about who they buy.

I know what you've said is all hypothetical but no club is going to lose 6 of their best players in one go to other clubs.

Jenners has made one suggestion. What would yours be, seeing as you don't agree?

I wouldn't say for profit no.

The point in training them is to get the 1% who are good enough.

Its tougher the better your first team is.

The reality is though we also hava a responsibility to these children and the are children to educate them and give them a chance to be a pro footballer where they can be. Its harsh to say not here sorry lad but helping the top 10 or 5% be a pro is also our job.

When we bring a ki in form holland or a suso in form cadiz we are jumping the queue and those are very different sorts.

We have youths because its expected but its also to have local heart to clubs and finally to spend less money.

example:

Club 3rd keeper... surely should be a kid whos had a few loans out not a guy who's an aged pro. Kellher is a prime example but we have 2 or 3 now.

We have TAA.
We have crutis jones (best player i've seen in a very long time in youths in midfield)
We have Duncan (poached from man city) and glaztel
We have brewster (who we poached from cheslea)
We have Ki. (paocehd from ajax)

theres no way all of them are getting though TBH as the chance has to come and LFC don't want to have 5 or 6 kids having to play due to injuries etc. just a fact.

But we will see............

its inevitable some will be sold and that pays the bills. I'd rather a kid get a long career at a good level out of LFC but not at LFC than be a twat like several who could be named who wanted 10k a week at 17 or they'd **** off as every one ive seen has basically done nothing since.



My list of rules would be:

a) ZERO moves out of country before 18. ZERO. if parents move for work or whatever it must be very well documented and proven not to be to advance kids career
b) cap on wages to 18-20 year olds. (far too much too soon) but this could lead to contract issues and a frenzy at 20 years old i admit)
c) some rule on non eu player limits (sorry but its needed)
d) Some sort of global rule on homegrown that enforces a minimum number in 18 man squad for a game.



If we look at LFc:

Alisson non EU
TAA HG
Gomez HG (charlton should be ok)
VVD EU
Robertson... UK.. should be HG
Fabinho non eu
Ox HG
Kieta non eu
Salah non eu
firmino non eu
mane non eu

See the point... 6 non eu players in our first 11. 4 uk players. 1 actual really club trained

walker HG (massive fee but whatever)

city are all bought but far more covered within eu than non eu.

southampton....

there is NOTHING to stop real offering 100mil for VVD, Jeuve offering 100mil for salah.. etc etc etc..

Why not? How many did saints lose after that good year they had? Was getting close to that number.

And i I don’t think anything should change? Let clubs buy and sell as many as they want, as long as not breaking ffp then why not. All your suggesting is letting the top clubs cherry pick the best players and those that are lower down aren’t allowed to improve their squad meaning the gap would just get bigger and bigger.

Selling youth players and buying other other clubs youth players for cheaper is how a lot of lower league clubs get by on a day to day basis

I know but then you come to jenners second point, any club would be mad to let them go.

We've got a very attractive, sellable team atm, offers will flood in, do we just sell them all in one go?
