Certainly Yorkshire's day (and Markram throwing his wicket away at the end was the cherry on top for them). But without a front line spinner in their side, you'd like to think we could still dig in a get a draw from this. Yes my expectation is that we'll be following on in due course - and most likely commencing tomorrow, rather than Sunday - but any side bowling back-to-back without a front line spinner is asking a lot from their seamers. Yorkshire bowlers could be suffering come Sunday afternoon.
Leach 6 for 38 at Trent Bridge in April! That is just fantastic for him. Good luck to Somerset this year and it would be absolutely magical if your boys could get their first ever Championship crown, which they should have done in 2016!!! As for Leach I believe he should be in England's starting 11. Today he proved he can get wickets on any surface.
I agree with your regarding your comments about the need for a spinner. Middlesex haven't got any. Years ago both Emburey and Edmunds were bowling on every kind of surface from April to the season's end and getting wickets on a regular basis. Mushtaq was key in Sussex's back to back title wins a few years ago. And more recently Harmer got a shoalful of wickets when Essex won the title. So, yeah a top class spinner is essential.
Just shows it doesn’t have to be a Taunton Bunsen for Leach to shine. I didn’t actually expect an innings victory today, so that is stunning! With Hampshire struggling Somerset sit deservedly on top the table for the moment.
And I hope they stay there!! And you have Bess to come back as well. As for Leach, I feel he was hard done by not to play any tests in the West Indies and that was England's loss!
