Well, paint me surprised. Labour wants to stop freedom of movement.
Translation: Freedom of movement for UK citizens will become something for the rich, the ones who can afford to deal with the costs of moving abroad. What a wonderful take on socialist ideals.
Can someone who is a Labour supporter defend this please?

I admire your optimism but Corbyn's pro-Brexit stance is hacking off a large part of Labour's membership. These are the people who actually leaflet, canvass and get the vote out.

And 65% of Labour voters voted Remain. Labour’s problem is that much of their heartland vote in the old industrial North voted Leave, for whatever deluded reasons.
They will break the country and then blame it on Brexit. No matter the outcome of the current farce!!

In fact, Brexit has already broken the country. Now watch May trying to blame it on Labour. Which I don’t think will wash.

I agree with what you say though about May blaming labour. The truth is though as you and I know the mess is because of cross party idiots not one single party.

Since 2004 European Union law has allowed governments to control movements of EU citizens as follows: EU citizens may freely circulate for three months and then require them, should they want to stay longer, to show they are working (employed or self-employed), a registered student or have sufficient resources (pension, savings) to support themselves and comprehensive sickness insurance by way of a valid European health insurance card or have private health insurance. The UK is one of the few governments that has not implemented this.For six years Theresa May was in charge of the Home Office responsible for immigration, yet did nothing to adopt these conditions. Why not and why was immigration allowed to dominate the referendum and is still being paraded as a big problem? Yet another failure of our own government and the Home Office under Theresa May is being blamed on the EU. The remedy was always in the UK’s hands.
I've worked and travelled in a number of EU countries using these regulations, no problems at all.

No, the mess is entirely down to the Tories, Beddy. First of all Cameron held a referendum he didn’t need to hold, just to try and stop Tory voters turning to UKIP. Then he didn’t campaign hard enough for Remain, and jumped ship as soon as people voted against him. Then Theresa May held an election she didn’t need to and lost her majority, but carried on as though she still had one.
Watching Parliament regularly as I do, the only idiots are the Brexiteers in the Tory Party, who May is constantly trying to appease.
Oh, and Kate Hoey. She’s completely bonkers.
While I agree with some of the things you’ve said. I am sorry though you’ll never convince me this event is just down to the Tories. Parliament has taken over the process so they tell us. Yet they still can’t agree. At the moment I don’t think I would vote for any of the main parties. Truly disgusted with the lot of them.
Yeah, I remember being appalled by that at the time. I certainly can’t defend it; it was on Ed Miliband’s watch I believe, but it won’t have come from him. Extraordinary badly advised, that bloke.
Personally I’m all for open borders. Not sure the bulk of the British people are though, and there are some, I think legitimate, concerns about ruthless companies (Uber, Amazon, Starbucks, Deliveroo) exploiting an unlimited supply of cheap labour.
Can’t agree. Parliament, for all the idiots, is the best possible thing we have, or could have. The voices of those who would tear it down in favour of a “strong leader” are being raised, using Brexit, or the lack if it, as an excuse. That should send a chill down everyone’s spine.
A large part of the country would probably accept authoritarian/fascist rule at this point, if the campaign was carried out under the anti-immigration rhetoric.
I also believe that the blame for this mess lies solely with the Conservative party.
As far as I have seen watching the recent debates, the majority of MPs are very reasonable, aside from the tories.
(And I say this as someone who has voted conservative in the past - not someone that has always been 100% anti-Tory)
If you buy a rundown house you have to put money into repairing it and bringing it back to an acceptable state.
For me, Labour taking over the country, from the Tories is exactly the same. The Tories always cut to the bone, damaging so many sectors that massive repair work is needed, and the worse things become, the more you need to spend to bring it back to the correct level.
If the Tories were better at maintaining the standards for everyone, and not just the wealthy, Labour wouldn’t have to keep rebuilding the country.
Usually, when Labour take over, it is because, despite the right wing media’s best efforts, the general public see just how broken the country has become, as a result of Tory governance.
