Wolves 0-2 Spurs. Lovely. Clean sheet, largely untroubled keeper, some nice moves at times and some goals for our strikers. Just what the doctor ordered. Now for that late Swansea equaliser and Stoke to hold on...
Suarez missed a sitter in injury time. Can we expect a quiet week from the Scousers? Shame Danny Graham missed an easy equaliser against the Goons too
A result for sure, but the team isn't there yet, and a performance like that won't beat Liverpool. ALL the new lads did play their part though, so I may be wrong about our chances if they kick on from this.
Very good result. Not an overly convincing performance, but thought Parker did well and good to see Ade score a debut goal. The scousers should be a bit quieter this week too
3 points was all important today and I'm delighted we got it. I thought Parker looked a bit sloppy at times, although overall he looked pretty good.
Nice to see Ade getting back to help cover in the last 20mins,actually showed a good work rate.Nice showing boys, sets up Liverpool nicely.
Strong 2nd half performance and a great result. Thought Ade had a really good game and clearly seems to link well with Defoe. His hold up play was great and if he still has some fitness to make up then things are looking very bright. Parker got caught a few times in possession, but was tenacious AND creative. Modders seemed happy enough, Walker got stronger as the game went on (as did Ledders, whose link up with Kaboom improved as the game went on) and Benny was - well, Benny!! Nico still flatters to deceive *(despite the interchange with Defoe for the 2nd) and Bale was somewhat anonymous as my only major concern.... All in all - a happy Saturday evening.
I don't remember Adebayor and Defoe linking up at all, to be honest. Niko wasn't great in the first half, after a good start but I think he played well in the second half and Bale, like a lot of team, didn't seem to want to make quick decisions today and it allowed Wolves to fend off most of our attacks in the first half.
I think Adebayor and Defoe seemed to communicate well, SF. They were never in each others way, always making runs into space and dragging the defence around and seemed to take turns dropping deep or moving wide. You could see them chatting when chances went astray, too. They may not have linked up directly, but they seemed to know what the other player was trying to do and reacted accordingly. Worked pretty well for a first run out, even if you discount the goals.
I was unimpressed with Defoe for most of the game, overall I suppose it was promising for him, he's certainly shown he's more effective in 442 but I don't think that's news to anyone. Given the choice between the partnership today and a fit VDV and Ade, I'd still pick the latter without question.
If all players were fit I wouldn't start either JD or VDV in big games. Friedel Walker King Gallas BAE Parker Sandro Lennon Modric Bale Adebayor Gomes, Corluka, Dawson, Huddlestone, Kranjcar, JD, VDV as the 7 subs.
Well as I said Niko on the right Not because that's his best position, but because Bale is more suited to left mid. Both can move around tho to good effect. Great debuts from Parker and Ade
And correct you were, he worked well from the right side and Bale improved when he was switched over to the left.
Ade showed us exactly what we've been lacking last season. I sincerely hope that his presence in the squad gives both Defoe and Pav the kick up the arse that each deserves.
Spurs fan here just wanting to say good luck to Wolves for the rest of the season. An honest team that I'd rather see in the Premier League than many many of the others!
I'd put Bale at left back and add Krancjar for away games, and probably also change VDV for Krancjar or maybe Lennon for home games. The problem with VDV is that as good as he is, he tends to dominate the team when he's in. Without him it's a more balanced team. I also wish there was a regular place for Krancjar. He's effective, versatile, wants to be in Tottenham, and I think the team benefits when he plays.
