Well, it should really be Kane vs Matip since the offensive player gets to pick where he goes
Kane plays off that right side more often so it should be VVD but yes he's bound to test both.
Maybe, I'm not certain just what I remember. Thinking on it I think he works the line well and plays all over the place.

he likes to be wide an awful lot. Thatts why his general play is rarely anything to write home about.. he's got got the pace do he looks for a bit of space and spurs know where to lump it at him
in fairness he can bring his team up the pitch more there than competing with big cbs.

You say that but in the Holland Germany game VvD switches sides part way through the game to mark certain players
But then they can just move again.
Unless a defender is going to man-mark an attacker and follow him around, it's the attacker who gets to choose whom he takes on.

True but often strikers would just stand next to them. How many times did we see Carroll or benteke go stand next to their best defender
