On a serious note the success of England through the age groups has been really impressive and should bode well for the senior team in a few years time . Though that has to be with the proviso that some of the better players actually get game time.
On the game time i think it is all to the good that quite a few of the UKs promising young players are moving abroad to get the game time as i have long held the view that we could do with more of our players having had a more varied football "life".

It could do but I think your point on players leaving England is what can help.

the English club's simply don't develop enough players even in mid table.... imo the other European clubs do play more of their local players as those leagues don't in share money evenly.

the simple fact is wolves to Watford to Brighton can if they choose field teams entirely of foreigners to compete in prem.


jadon sancho has done doemthing interesting.... but eric dier did too...

so the more go the more develop but the question is how they do develop.

Imo there's a wide variety of attitudes and levels of maturity out there. True hunger is all too rare.

The problem I see it that these players are exposed to riches and easy street far too young, agents paying parents. Clubs paying under the table etc.

The best analogies I can think is there's more Gazzas than platts (90s reference) and far more ravel Morrison's than Harry Kane.

imo its win/win for the England team as either our clubs will give more game time to them or risk losing them abroad where as well as the game time they will benefit from the whole experience .

but for me the most important aspect is they play more technical football not hoof ball.

the entire continent has failed to produce many really technical players.

well i would disagree that the named players are just about pace & power but the idea that Man City , Arsenal , Tottenham ,Chelsea , Wolves ,ManU , Bournemouth and us play hoofball is just silly.

there's a lot of get it forward and back and forth and let's have 25 chances no matter what the type that happens in the prem.

we call the the best league in the world but a lot of it is down to rushing and mistakes.

a really top quality game where there's 4 or 5 real chances and teams really working to make those can be more entertaining... and I say can be not that it is all the time.

If the English teams are so poot technically how come we have been so successful in European competition unless you think kick & rush trumps "technical" football.

passing it backwards until your cbs and keeper have no option but to lump it is not retaining possession first off.

second just take a quick look at exactly how English club's got through.

a) Liverpool. lose 3 away games. played god awful to be quite honest. did well in first home game after conceding. were 3-1 up and still tried another goal in. then won against a **** red star team and absolutely narrow squeaker v napoli in a game was was absolutle ****. technically **** now.

b) city... piss easy group.

c) Utd. do you not remember their group and Valencia...

d) spurs. do you not remember they were all but out but inter Milan absolutely threw it away??

let's call a spade a spade. there's one team in England with some technical.players who focus on retaining ball with view to creating chances. city.

they are on for a quadruple for a reason.

utd had a good run. they were embarrassed v pgs and then caught them sleeping second leg with dodgy pen

Mito is spot on that we are always going to struggle producing technically better players.

The basic fact is that in England, even the young kids play on bloody big pitches, being 6ft tall at 13 is a big advantage when you've got alot of ground to cover, even at local level the kids teams are chock full of the biggest lads they can get their hands on, it's all pace.

If your good with the ball, but a bit small or on the heavy side your not bothered with.
