Team orders by McLaren at Monza?

Strange? Jenson was going faster than Lewis' time towards the end but went into the pits without completing it... I know he wouldnt of beat Seb's time but why not get second? Is third a better place to start of or something?

Thoughts? Just seems strange to me since both are meant to be equal.
 
There would be no point in team orders, plus with the radio rules I'm sure it would have been broadcast. Maybe he mucked up in S3, maybe he wanted 3rd, who knows.
 
I wondered that, Jenson was a couple of tenths up on Seb's first lap, so he could potentially have had pole, especially if Seb had problems with his second lap. I suspect Button just made a mistake somewhere, or maybe they knew they were slower in the final sector and had to be further ahead than Button was to challenge Seb.
 
It was strange but I do not think it was team orders because a) Button would not follow them, and b) Mclaren would not even try to use them in that situation.

But I do not know why the lap was aborted because he was doing personal bests in S1 and S2.

Yeah that's what I saw on the timing app on the ipad, must of been a mistake at Ascari.
 
I must say I too was surprised to see him pit Silver. But if you're suggesting some preferential arrangement for McLaren's drivers, I have to say you're barking up the wrong tree. Pitting would be no evidence of team orders in any case because what matters is getting both drivers as far up as possible. Team orders can play a part during a race but I can see no way they can be made to work in qualifying; and no point in trying it either!

vettel was alot quicker in sector 3,thats where he completly blew everyone else away,also button made a mistake in sector 3.

why is it when the team make dodgy decisions regarding lewis you same ppl dont claim its team orders?

I am guessing you are presuming that because nothing was shown on tv or mentioned in any comments I have read or heard yet.
 
Team orders in qualifying how silly it would be like saying to Massa "you go out and compromise yourself by giving Alonso a tow up the straights there's a good puppy" it just wouldn't happen,,,,,,,,,,hang on a minute.

How was Massa compromised by that? :undecided:
 
I think I mentioned this is another thread, Jenson made a mistake (sector 3) just like Sebastian did and just like Lewis did, these guys are on the ragged edge in Q3, it happens. Plus they already had a decent lap in the bag so why not push the limit a little bit more. There are no team orders in McLaren. Sebastian was fastest, Lewis was second fastest and Jenson was third fastest. Simple.
 
Well I do not think he made a mistake otherwise he would of said so, he says he lost a tenth in the first sector and pitted to save the tyres, but I thought he did a green sector 1?

Hmm… Not quite the same thing Mephisto.
Massa did not compromise his own time by towing Alonso (which increases the possibility of other team's drivers - not just Alonso - being quicker). What we saw with Ferrari's formation flying was the hope that the combined times of the Ferrari drivers would be more competitive (Massa's unaffected and Alonso's improved). The only thing that was compromised was Massa's capacity to beat his team mate but unfortunately for most viewers - and Brazilians in particular - that doesn't matter to Ferrari…
 
Lewis suggested that Jenson's better off on the clean side. Perhaps Jenson felt the same, after all, he's quite well-known for thinking his race ahead.
