Bristol City handed significant boost ahead of key period Bristol City have been boosted by the return for Korey Smith, with the midfielder returning for the club’s under-23 side against Colchester United this afternoon. Lee Johnson has been unable to call on Smith since August 18, when the 28-year-old picked up a knee injury in a 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough. However, after seven months of recovery, Smith now sees light at the end of the tunnel, with the midfielder named in Bristol City’s starting XI for their under-23 fixture against Colchester this afternoon. please log in to view this image Bristol City FC ✔ @BristolCity please log in to view this image #BristolCity Under-23s vs Colchester United: Marinovic, Turner-Williams, Webb, Harrison, H.Smith, Ali, Day, K.Smith (C), Rees, Richards, Bell. Subs: Carey, Conway, Spark, Towler. 60 13:25 - 21 Mar 2019 Last season Smith was a regular for Johnson, featuring on 52 occasions across all competitions and returning three goals. Amongst those goals was a strike against Manchester United in the quarter-final of the League Cup, with Smith helping the Robins reach the last four of that competition. He returns to a squad fighting on one front this season, with Johnson hoping to guide his side into the play-offs. Between December 29 and February 12 City were on an eight-match winning streak, with six of those triumphs coming in the Championship. That had put them in serious top-six contention, but Johnson’s side are now without a win in five, with Sheffield United and Middlesbrough awaiting following the international break. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/bristol-city-handed-significant-boost-ahead-of-key-period/
My favourite player...we have missed korey without a doubt, the question is, will he be as good as he was, lets all hope he will be.
Really pleased for him - a great team player and I’m sure he’ll boost dressing room morale. Let’s hope he can get back to his best quickly.
Will be great if he manages to be ready this season, it will take a while for him to be match for though.
