How long do you guys keep receipts for?
Having a problem with my iPad today. It shows connectivity to the WiFi but won’t access the internet.
My phone and my wife’s iPad work fine, so it’s not an internet issue.
I followed various directions from Apple support but no joy.
Took it to the Apple store in West Quay, they ran diagnostic tests, it briefly connected to the internet, then dropped out again.
Nothing they can do, so I accepted that I would have to buy a new one.
AND THEN the lad helping me asked if I still had the receipt or proof of purchase.
Why?, I asked.
It seems that for the first two years the iPad is covered by warranty, but from years 2 - 6 it is covered by some consumer law and faults reported after the second year can lead to a free exchange.
I no longer have the receipt so am now waiting for my credit card company to send me statements from the time when I bought it.
Oddly, though, the Apple store gave me the date of purchase, but still insist on me showing proof of purchase.
Fingers crossed that I get the information that I want.

Luckily I but my Apple products from Apple direct, so normally have the emailed receipt (even if in store). However, I have always found Apple in store at West Quay very good and bend the rules a bit - a few years ago my iMac was just out of warranty and the hard drive failed - not only did they replace it under warranty, they upgraded it from 500GB to 1TB :)

They do seem to be a decent bunch in there.
I was told that if I couldn’t find proof of purchase, to bring the iPad back and part exchange it. He said it would be accepted as they only inspect for physical damage and not for other issues, so if all else fails I will try that and save a little bit on a new one.

Edit. Actually I don’t think I would do that because of not knowing how to clean all information from it.

Follow these instructions to remove all your personal data. You won't be able to back up anything you want to save, as I'm pretty sure you need an internet connection, but it'll certainly wipe it.

Edit. You may be able to back up your data if you can connect your ipad to a PC, I think you can use iTunes to do it

Was watching “Harry’s Heroes” this evening. I don’t know what people thought, but I thought it was very well done. Not only to try and get some of us old, fat, unfit buggers off the couch, but also talking candidly about gambling, drug taking, addiction ......
I really enjoyed it ..... although Razor Ruddock ..... <yikes><yikes> He’s almost as big as you, Fats :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Yep I loved it too - really well done. That Skate Merson isn't to bad either after all. Tell you one thing, Matty may be unfit, but boy has he still got his talent! What a pleasure it was to watch him in his prime. Watching it has reminded me that he is one of the most talented players I think I have ever seen. In a different (read bigger) team (I'm so glad it wasn't that way), he would have been up there with Messi & Co..I really mean that.
