With today's win, Ralph moved past Pellegrino, Nigel, Sturrock and Gray in the Saints Premier League managerial win chart. Another random fact: Ralph was level with Sturrock for the second-best PL win rate of any Saints manager, at 35.7%, and is now alone in second. Still a distance from Koeman's 47.4%.
I wonder how many MLT scored from an indirect? One that sticks in the memory has to be the flick up self volley against Wimbledon.
We had two magical seasons under Ron. Perfect storm. Yet still some Saints fans wanted him out in November/December of that season.
That’s bizarre .... I didn’t click your post. Very strange. Happens occasionally on here. * of coure it could have been my fat fingers, but unlikely that I made a mistake. Whatever next?
Am I right in thinking that after yesterday, there's only one fixture (of the constant clubs) that we haven't won at, Manchester City. Since our promotion.
Great achievement. Especially as the elite have evolved even further in the last few years. I was going to add my favorite one, but then every time I thought of the next it jumps a place in the list! Special mentions. Chelsea (3-1). Liverpool Cup game. Man U Tadic goal. Superb.
We all know Ron has his shortcomings; but he was a brilliant manager for us. His record speaks for itself.
Couple stats to maybe add. We've drawn the most games this season, a poultry 9! Is this a record season for the least amount of drawn games in one season for the entire league? Also, losing 23 points from winning positions, that has surely never been beaten before*. Who wants to do the leg work and confirm these? *why do I get the impression we are going to add to that
Damn, I know we conceded a shed load of late goals, but I didn't think we'd been in winning positions to the tune of 23 odd points. Must have blanked some of that crap out!
Not quite. We dropped 22 points from winning positions that season. And we dropped 21 points from winning positions last season. Our 23 points dropped this season (so far) comes from 5 losses and 4 draws. But in our first season back in the PL, under Nigel and Poch, it was a whopping 5 losses and 7 draws - so 29 points dropped!
