He will have to start scoring 15-20 goals a season for that comparison.
I said "type" only.
I'm not saying that he is anywhere near as good as Lamps was but given a full season in the team I reckon he will get in double figures.

Don't forget that Lampard was surrounded by World class players as well

I can't disagree with that. He is starting to fulfil his potential and with regular playing time will only get better.

No coincidence that our two most passionate players got the goals yesterday. There was a few good performances but JWP & OR really looked like they were trying to make things happen. That will be really important on Saturday. Special mention to Berty though, some cracking crosses, very pleased to have him back in the side.

That midfield trio (Rom, JWP, PEH) have got a really nice balance and after a run of games together are starting to click, difficult to see how Mario fits into it atm.

Not heard a whisper on when Mario is back, so he's not even a concern.
And there's me thinking he'd be the key player at the start of the term. <doh>

He flatters to decieve a lot for me, on his day he is very, very good and probably the most talented player we have but he has had some absolute stinkers as well and it just does not work in a central pair with Oriol IMO.

On the evidence of those highlights, JWP has become a completely new player under Ralph. He put in a thunderous tackle to set up one chance, but for his goal, the awareness and tenacity he showed to be first to the rebound was exemplary.

We finally have a manager who knows how to use him and the rest of our midfielders correctly. JWP is better as a central (or at least central-ish) midfielder and not as a winger or wingback. JWP, Romeu, Lemina, Hojbjerg are all good. It's probably the strongest part of our team. You can throw Stuart Armstrong in there too, if you want.

They should have been playing JWP in central mid the last 2 seasons, and having him work extra on his shooting and general work inside the box. He already had the rest of the tools. Just needed some experience and support. JWP is primarily a ball-distributor/play maker with a well-rounded skillset that allows him to play box-to-box. And by doing so, it takes advantage of his workrate and gives him more space. He needs another midfielder who can play a little better defense and is more physical to sit a little deeper, but we have plenty of mids who can fill that role and work as a perfect complement as a deeper player who can also play box-to-box.

He's basically a bit like Steven Davis, except he can potentially score a bit. And that's a solid player.

JWP is STILL young for a CM as well.

I've said before on here that Cms take longer to start impacting games than other positions.
