It's a temptation for the super rich. But this guy was working class, Dad was a joiner, was brought up in a council house so that is impressive and no doubt he's paid a ton of UK cash to date

Takes the benefits of the uk government and then decides to screw over the system. Charming.

Greedy people will be greedy though.

But he's pulled himself up by his bootstraps and paid many millions in tax in the UK. So it's disappointing he's locating in Monaco (while presumably providing employment for many in the UK) but take the rough with the smooth. Global no dom corporations are far worse imo. They've never paid tax anywhere

    I'm presuming he's becoming a non dom?

This is just taking tax avoidance to another level though which is similar to what these non dom corps are. Providing jobs is exactly the same argument they use too.

It's not like they want to tax what he has, they just want to tax his profits presumably?

If Labour got in there would be a mass exodus of millionaires, he's probably covering his arse...

The difference between him and, say, Amazon is that he's paid huge amounts into the Exchequer over years, whereas Amazon has paid a negligible amount...anywhere

Its the exact same argument. Amazon paid 4.5m which is way more than most people as well as provide jobs. Who cares if they are paying their share of taxes as they are paying more than most.

Both are pretty reprehensible when they are paying fractions. The only thing worse is that amazon are an entity, a u.s. entity at that who wont give a **** about britain whereas ratcliffe has been made in the uk.

The scale is different. Amazon pays a tiny £4.5m. Ratcliffe is said to be saving £4 billion by leaving the UK. This would otherwise have been paid to the UK in tax. Which gives you an idea of what he has been paying to date, even if, as seems to be the case, his company changes domicile occasionally.

Yes, he's done very well and got himself a knighthood for his - very highly rewarded - efforts. And now he's ****ing off to save some tax. I don't begrudge anyone earning bundles of dough, but pay your ****ing dues.

Exactly how much money does one person need?

As a counter protest, I was going to take a naked picture with "Leave the EU now!" Written on my penis, but I think I'll have to settle for "Brexit"

A fine example of one of the many challenges posed by globalisation. If only we could come together in a group, or perhaps union, of nations to establish common rules to try and tackle transnational issues :emoticon-0110-tongu

[Tongue very much in cheek. Not an issue the EU can really tackle very easily. Needs some sort of global response]
