Indeed. The entire premise that they weren’t radicalised is utter nonsense, they travelled half way around the world to a war zone to join a death cult ffs. Of course they were radicalised, the fact that they were still school kids obviously makes that worse. We need to find out how this is being carried out and by whom, and via what means. I suspect it’s largely via the net, in which case the internet providers have to seriously up their game to block the sources.

It’s not a case of justifying it. I don’t think anyone wants her to come back. Just saying that she is British regardless of what she’s done and we have a responsibility whatever she’s done, even if that means just locking her up for 40 years.

Sky have just interviewed the girl. I did think she looked very tired and not surprising as she has now given birth to a baby boy. She is putting appeals out to her family to help out. Shamima denies any participation in terrorist activity and claims to have done nothing wrong (she probably don't realise that joining IS is actually a criminal offence). Now the government have a choice, rescue her from the refugee camp or leave her there. I do believe she is now becoming media propaganda of one form or another, however, the positives are it will give the British public a better view of the whys, through the eyes of what was a 15 year old girl and is now a 19 year old young woman. She stated the attraction to Syria was due to online videos, basically putting the blame firmly in the hands of the internet. If anything good can come from this it can give good insight into how radicalisation happens, although personally i don't think i've learned anything new.
