Been quite a few times really nice place if I remember right booze was astronomical so people got the ferry across to Denmark and bought it also you get pickled herring in between courses which are great to start with but after a week you are sick of the site of them
Yes, been three times, including last July.
People in Scandinavia speak brilliant English, so that's a good start.
Being a northern country, shops, bars, etc. open & close more or less at British times.
Rooch is spot on about the booze. There is an overnight cruise ship which goes from Stockholm to Helsinki and stops at some islands which are under Finnish jurisdiction but the people speak Swedish so they have autonomy and a weird tax situation with the EU … which is all an excuse to open the Duty Free and for the locals to get loads of cheap booze & ***s!!! A cabin costs **** all as the company makes all its money from Duty Free. Done the cruise on all three occasions.

Been loads. Stockholm is a great city. Go to Pelikan, a traditional Swedish beer hall. Proper Swedish food and beer. Beer is expensive but if you're in to craft beer it's very, very nice. Some good bars and nightlife in Sodermalm. Lots of culture- the Vasa Museum is excellent if you like ships, Skansen is a big cultural open air museum with a zoo and all sorts of other stuff. They're both in Djurgarden. Gamla Stan, the old town, is scenic.
Away from Stockholm, I've tended to steer clear of the big cities but there is some amazing scenery and great countryside. I particularly like the Jokkmokk area and the national parks around there.
It's definitely worth a visit. But, like anywhere, do plenty of research to make sure you make the most of it and do the things that you want to do.

Went for 30 minutes once. Didn't see Abba or Bjorn Borg.

Always thought it was supposed to be nice, thanks for the heads up, I’ll be almost slap bang between malmo and Stockholm
just south of Malmo is very nice, around Hollviken by tye coast. also great for golf.... and alonv tye south coast to Skane
Stockholm is a lovely city. lots to do, but defo expensive which the Nordics are generally.
The Sodermalm area is good for a night out around Skanegatan...

try and keep away from the train station, and the big shopping mall, keep your cash in your under kegs, and don't use a ATM machine anywhere in the City,be careful of ****s bumping into you they do it in 3s, immigrants have ****ed some major towns and Cities but Sweden is a beautiful place and the locals are top notch,
Just Malmo i mean
I've been twice to visit some friends who live out there. The first trip was when they lived in a small town called Ellös near to Gothenburg. A lovely place on the coast but very tranquil, however they do have lots of good seafood and had some great fresh water crayfish. Gothenburg is a nice city to explore and well worth a visit.
We went back a few years ago to Norrköping, a wonderful medieval city which is closer to Stockholm. I really enjoyed the city especially the old industrial area which they transformed into various museums, trendy bars and art centres. We went to the nearby Kolmarden zoo which was excellent, the kids loved it. Stockholm is a beautiful city but as Nordic said - it's quite pricey. I don't recall it being as dangerous as Roger makes out

Kolmarden is where I’m heading, going for a little working trial for a potential job, have heard nothing but fantastic reviews about the place
that is basically Norkopping. sounds like a great opportunity fella. if you enjoy it this time of the year, when it us toughest climatically, you'll love it during the rest of the year. Norkopping has a footie team too, and definitely big enough place to have lots of stuff going on with Stockholm only 100 miles away.

Sounds like a great job mate - go for it you won't regret it.
My friends still live in Norrkoping and love it there.
Make sure you ask for £100 an hour so you can afford a coffee at lunch time
