We’ll need that money to bribe some Northern MPs who know Brexit will disproportionately **** their constituents.

Bung them a few quid here and there, that should suffice. If only they would stop rolling out the Sun newspaper free of charge to unsuspecting idiots whom then believe everything in it, including dear Deirdre, then this country might not be in such a mess!! Media for ya

We liberal southern ponces will be fine. The arts cannot be constrained by something as trivial as the economy.

Liam Neeson getting it in the neck for admitting his shame for racist thoughts and nearly violent actions he had decades ago after the rape of a friend, exactly the kind of thing you casually throw in to a chat with a journalist while promoting a crappy film.

Hysterical, cliched reactions all over the place. A man admits a shameful and stupid response to something, his shame is ignored and his original response is the only focus. Within seconds white academics are telling me that, no matter how I feel and act, I will always be racist.

Doubtless Neeson will find himself black(pardon the expression)listed. He claimed he has never spoken to anyone about this incident, then decides to bare his soul to a journalist. Frankly Liam I have no sympathy for you, you are either stunningly naive or very calculating seeking publicity for your latest revenge movie. Next time stick to Brexit.

Just read some more about this and it seems Mr Neeson has a bit of a history of winding people up for publicity. Enjoy the consequences.

Assuming you were also listening to the Today programme from this - can't believe the likes of Today fall for such a ridiculous PR move.

    I do love Taken though.

Every media outlet seems to have fallen for it, on front page of the Times.

The annual Trust Barometer, a kind of survey which communications professionals reference, has noted an interesting trend.

It used to be that we didn’t trust anything that our employer told us. Then we moved on to distrusting politicians, and now the media is not believed either. And we are trusting our employers more.

I’m playing safe and won’t be trusting any of them, or celebrities, on anything.

Not just white academics. Black spokesmen who show no understanding for the sheer irrational anger which I would suggest is entirely natural do the cause of black men in general no favours by the blinkered view that it is an attack on black men generally rather than any individual. That would be fine if it was coupled with a condemnation of the individual perpetrator, an expression of desire to see him/them punished harshly irrespective of the fact that he/they were black and an expression of understanding that it would have been an emotional reaction which thankfully led to no harm to Neeson's credit. Something that was entirely lacking from the non-entity put forward to give the black hysterical cliched reaction. Spokesmen like that do the cause of race relations no service as they do not help to solve these problems.

It is (or was) an attack on black men generally. He knew that he wasn't going to be confronted with the rapist, any 'black bastard' would have done.

Justifiable outrage if you ask me.

Ah, but the Trust Barometer, if I recall correctly, is produced and published by Edelman, a global PR firm. And surely that means we can't trust the Trust Barometer. And if we can't trust the Trust Barometer, how do we really know that people don't trust untrustworthy sources as above?

Time to find a dark room.

It's what we said, Ellers. Juncker, Selmayr and the rest in Brussels are answerable to nobody and can take the hardest ideological line with a clear conscience. Merkel and the Polish Foreign Minister have to answer to voters that are made redundant by a no deal Brexit.

Meanwhile, Irish-American politicians are making threats against the UK that unless we concede on the backstop, they will veto a US-UK trade deal. Back of the queue stuff

Justifiable?! Understand the rage but why not rage against any rapist of whatever colour, or againt any man?! As I got what he said, he didn't in fact do anything, so I'm not sure why he's telling the world he was at least, a Racist.

My post obviously wasn't clear Ossie. I meant that the outrage against Neeson was justified.

I have no idea really, but the vast majority of experts and commentators seem to agree that it will be a disaster of some scale, whereas Liam Fox merely says that it's 'survivable'. As David Lammy said in reply, 'so is getting hit by a car travelling at 30 mph, but that doesn't mean it's advisable'.
