Morning, team. Firstly how brilliant was Coole Cody on Saturday?!? Sent to the front from the flagfall the old boy looked in great nick and really seemed to be enjoying himself from the very first stride – and the way the old boy stayed on from the 2nd last was Gutsy with a capital ‘G’. He should go up 2-3 lbs for that fantastic 2nd place (which earned connections in excess of £21k) and is now guaranteed a run, if fit, in the ‘Pertemps Final’ at the Festival. 50/1 is still available re that race which I find Amazing with a capital ‘A’. If he was trained by the Lieutenant or that chap I’ve never heard of Coole Cody would be bally favourite! And don’t forget the horse is 1/1 at Cheltenham. Give Me a Copper raced keenly in the following contest and kept on resolutely when his lack of fitness told after jumping the old Pond fence for the final time. He should come on a ton for that and maybe even get a perchings reduction to boot. As a result you could see him creeping into the foot on the handicap for the GN and running a stormer off a featherweight. 50/1 available which I think is reasonable. Finally the Lieutenant was ‘at it’ again on Saturday with Kilcrea Vale in the same race. Beaten 30+ lengths. In his only other run at this distance the handicapper refused to lower his perching and the stewards requested ‘a word’. Can find no trace of the latter on Saturday so lets hope the handicapper drops the old boy a few pounds ahead of his major, major objective, The Topham, which I take will be his next race. Am so looking forward to seeing how all 3 are re-evaluated perchings wise of the morrow. Any thoughts on what they will get, crew??? Good luck, all.
2:00 Chelmsford - Don't Do It 5/2 4:55 Wolves - Secret Lightning 10/1 5:25 Wolves - Zapper Cass 3/1 6:55 Wolves - Red Touch 7/2 I expect all to go very close and would think at least two winners out of them
Bravo Sir Barney for the 80/1 place with Coole Cody on Saturday - excellent work. With regard to the festival wouldn't you be worried that the ground might not be soft enough for him? His Cheltenham romp was on very easy ground and Sandown was described as 'tiring' on Saturday.
I noted GIVE ME A COPPER also on Saturday. It was as good a cobweb blower for the main event as you could imagine. I really dont like the idea of seeing the smug Ferguson fella in the winners enclosure at Aintree though. I guess having a few bob on him would at least negate my ire.
The interesting thing about Coole Cody is that he has never run when the words ‘soft’ or ‘heavy’ haven’t appeared in the going description so yes it could be an issue as he would be going into the unknown if running on genuinely good ground. Might not that be that huge a risk though as he has got dual winning form on good/soft. He also ran the much missed Neon Wolf close on such ground as well.
Nor would I. And I bet the locals would be none too pleased either! Also owned by old boy Jeremy Kyle, I believe. Never seen one of his TV progs myself (have heard him on the wireless though and he is actually very good) but I bet a few on here have been the subject re a couple of series!
Have you not even seen a clip of the Jeremy Kyle show Barney? It's quite entertaining if you have nothing better to do on a day off. JK is very to the point about people bumming around, smoking some of the waky baky and getting off their arse to get a job. Sadly some of it inevitably is a bit of 'time on tv' and look at me syndrome!..I quite like Jermey Kyle too as a down to earth guy who likes his racing.. I think you need to find some time to watch an episode...possibly with a couple of G & T s in hand..
I’ve seen the odd, and the very, very odd, clip here and there but never a full episode. Hasn’t he got horses with Nick Gifford as well??? Although have to say that Mr Nicholls is a significant step up on that chap.
hi fellas! taunton,2 45: ROSEMARY RUSSET has a reasonable shout here,if reproducing her fine effort in second two starts back, where she went down fighting vs a useful nicholls horse at this course..she ran well for a long way last time out, before eventually fading into 4th.still fairly treated for those efforts, and can go well here..
