Rags to riches story but we really did pull Swansea’s pants down with that deal for him.

@Cortez91 “Accepting offers that were too low, offering appalling wages to get them to “stay” etc.”

The bit in the interview said he was offered similar wages Swansea offered him. As part of a £16.5m deal I can’t imagine they were appalling, that bit really surprised me and flies in the face of everything we think we know.

Players all obviously just want out, but maybe the wages offered such as the ‘very good deal’ Adkins said we’d offered Hernandez weren’t as bad as we all thought.

Question is if that money was available to get people to stay why wasn’t it available for replacements when they left?

Some players were apparently offered wages that were too low and others were offered wages too late (Huddlestone said so).

Good question at the end. I presume it was offered knowing they wouldn’t stay anyway so they could say “well, we tried. It’s not our fault” when actually it is.

I don’t know what type of player they thought they were getting but they were desperate to replace Sigurdsson. They were annoyed when he wasn’t a like-for-like replacement.
More fool them.

After we lost to QPR, people kicked off when he was said to have refused to play by Slutsky but it was soon forgotten about when the transfer went through.
Ok
Maybe I did too, I just can’t remember it being an issue, and it’s much more likely a club doesn’t play a player they’re selling to protect the same than because the player doesn’t want to

Desperate being the word maybe. I’d have Sam back tomorrow like but then the same can be said for Curtis,Harry the dog,the Fat controller and Robbo.

I saw a white Lamborghini ( I aren't a petrol head but something similar) with CLU private number plate this afternoon on way to Cott from Willerby. I wondered then if it was Clucas?
I think his plate was/is CL11CAS with a strategically placed bolt between the 1s. I remember seeing it about on a dark SUV when he played for us.
