Scored on his debut last night and also got an assist against Hearts. It really does begger belief why we let this kid go when we are so short of strikers! How he never even made our bench is a complete mystery???
Unf@knbelievable, to not even give him a try ......... Clinical Finish at a higher level than we are playing at.
Another one slips through the net? Need more time to be sure but the lad seemed to have something and was worth a go. His recent injury didn't help and possibly swayed the club to get rid.Who knows.
Ross clearly doesn't rate him and I usually agree with him. For all we know that might be the only goal he scores this season.
Sorry but that's bollocks - the scottish premiership, barring 2 or 3 teams, is about the same as the level we're at. McGeouch has struggled at our level after bossing it up there. (I'm not disagreeing about Nelson btw - just that the Scottish league is dire)
Aye, whatever Hearts would be better than all the teams in our league, just my opinion tho mate, you think its bollocks , fair enough.
Aye Hearts are probably one of the 2 or 3 - the rest would struggle in this league sadly! Scottish football has gone so far backwards it's scary and I know people who watch it week in week out and agree with that. I've watched a few games on the TV and thought we'd be pushing for europe with our current squad in that league. As I say - McGeouch bossed that league for Hibs and was highly sought after up there. His best game for us came against a group of 17 year olds I'm also very much in the "One swallow" camp - as said, he might not score again all season
I wouldnt say Mcgeouch is struggling at all mate, his style of play is just very different for this league though. Hes probably got a better footballing brain than most players. Its tough to compare both leagues. Joey Barton flopped in Scotland but he was a big success at Burnley.
You may be right tees - I just watched him boss a game with 17 year olds but not be able to hold onto a ball in the third division a week earlier! Hoping the Man City game gives him a boost as he did play well - Ethan Robson moved the entire team up the pitch when he came on though and I think he may be just what we need (despite me saying I hadn't seen him play well in previous threads)
I watched him with interest when he played last season and he was tremendous against Hull - absolutely best player on the park - but every other performance, to me, was a bit "Meh!" The other night he looked superb - great in the tackle, good moving with the ball and passing. Just what we need (think Ross has said he's been disappointed not to eb able to pick him)
I think it's a great loan move. He's going to be playing at the same standard we are at with similar size crowds, who can be very passionate.
Yeah he left for a pittance . Hes still very young and raw but it beggars belief he never even made the bench for us even in the Checkatrade. He was labelled as one of our youngsters that could break in the first team back in August. He scored 6 goals in 5 games for Darlo earlier on in the season aswell.
We have to trust Ross that he never seen something in him. He's the one working with him every day. Young form doesn't really mean anything, I always remember Ryan Noble who was supposed to be as deadly as Kevin Phillips. He's struggling to get a game at Seaham Red Star, now.
On a report of our cup game elsewhere, both McGeoch and Ozturk were singled out for praise, citing that City allowed them time and space similar to what they were used to North of the Border, and very different to what they have faced in the English First Division so far. Holding out the hope that they might do better in the Championship next season hopefully, wishful thinking maybe, but who knows, it could explain why JR seems to have faith in them.
They were both very good in that game and looked more accomplished than they have for us previously - but it was against a bunch of 17 year olds!
A similar argument was used about Maja and Honeyman not too long ago, no wonder young players loose heart.
