I'm sure they will cover a fair portion thereof. For reference, Celta's player salaries in 2017-18 were about £40m; ours are probably 2.5x that. So, they'll probably cover something around half?

I can get on board with that, sell him for 10/12Million in the summer.

My rough estimate is that moving Davis and Hoedt on loan and selling Gabbiadini probably frees up about £100k a week...maybe £10k on Davis (that would still make him one of their highest-paid players), £30k on Hoedt, and probably £60-70k on Gabbiadini (assuming we didn't have to give him some sort of payoff, as Sampdoria likely isn't paying that much).

Which is a chunk of change, but only £2m through the end of the season or thereabouts. We really need to hope that we can shift some players permanently at season's end; we'll probably end up having paid Davis, Hoedt, Clasie, Boufal and Carrillo something in the range of £8-10m to not be Saints.

Christ, we’ve got a lot of dross <doh> someone really should be sacked. Oh wait ...
You can argue LR got some, even a lot right but boy, did he “oversea” a **** bucket at the end.

I still stand by my early season comments, that given a settled defence & a experience partner, then Wesley could be a decent player. I can over look a few mistakes, positional errors, dreadful deflections from not being brave enough. But will never forgive the lack of effort and not trying to get on board RH's hard work plan. This is a guy who prefers to point the finger rather than knuckle down.
So on that note, I hope it works out in Spain and we don't have to deal with you again.

I still think he is the only centre back we have who could play in a much better team, but he clearly doesn't want to be here so let him go. Slower tempo of Spain should suit his style and he could grab the attention of one of the bigger clubs over there if he does well at Celta so makes sense for him.

Gabbiadini aside, it’s a shame (and a reflection of our poor recruiting) that we only seem to be able to off-load players on loan rather than permanent deals.

I genuinely have no idea how you’re forming this opinion, in my opinion he is one of the worst players to ever play for us in the premier league. Thats before you’ve added in the rumours of his personality.

Massive fee, massive wages, massive liability.
