Hi Lads.. It is with sadness that I tell you that Burley Hurley passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by his loving family after his battle against cancer. Mrs Burley would also like me to pass on a huge thank you for the support and flowers she has received. I personally am going to miss this man so much, getting to know him was like finding a long lost brother. Mrs Burley has his login details for here so if you want to send a private PM then do so, it will be appreciated. I am still taking all of this in so on behalf of Burley Hurley I will say a big thanks for many years of banter with a set of great lads. Stay safe all and thanks.. RIP you wonderful man..
Oh ffs. I am genuinely saddened by this. I got a little bleary eyed as i read your post Joe, and i don't do tears. I'm gutted by this. Gonna miss him. RIP Burley/Blunham, and thanks for the last 7 years. My thoughts are with you Mrs. Blunham, you're husband was a remarkable man. ****, i've got a tear, I need to sort myself out.
Absolute gutted, spoken to him for years on here and one of the nicest most genuine blokes around who never got involved in any tit for tat bullshit and would look out for people too. It looked like at one point he was getting better too RIP Burly/Blunham, sleep tight fella and here's to a real, honest to god gent
Absolutely gutted to hear this news, he was so full of hope after he finally got cleared for surgery, and then after the op itself. I never met the man, we only spoke on here and via PM, but enough on here have and all have said what a gentleman he was, and that was certainly how he came across to me. My thoughts are with his family. RIP Burley lad.
Yes mate, one of the sunderland originals, a board where you were always welcome. Blunham was a diamond..
Totally lost for words. So sorry to read this. BH as he address himself to me privately, put on such a brave front, more than i'm doing at the moment in holding back the tears. I'm going to break PM rules, and say the great man sent me this back in October; 'Can you do me a favour and lock my thread titled above. Time it faded away.' That last bit says a lot to me, more than i can explain, other than to say the big gentleman will never fade from our hearts - R.I.P
Sorry to hear this. Seemed like a genuinely decent bloke, good sense of humour, and most importantly, the ability to laugh at himself. At least Sunderland were still in the top 2 when he passed, so he won't have to witness them getting beat in the play-offs. R.i.p. big feller (I am assuming he was big. Big heart anyway).
Ffs. Football means nothing today... We lost one of our own. Great bloke, very dignified and polite. Lost for words. Joe if you know of his family can you pass a message that Not606 will miss him very much so. I'd even be happy to put some money towards some flowers for his wife.
Ref what has been said . would it be a good idea if someone ( Joe ) Contacted his wife and asked about Flowers / Donations from NOT606 ? Just asking .
What sad news. Really very sorry to hear this. Seemed a genuinely nice bloke and enjoyed the interactions I had with him on here usually to do with Guinness or Mercedes cars.
Oh man that’s devastating to hear. I hadn’t known Burley for as long as most of you but from what I did get to know, he was an absolute diamond of a bloke and very much part of the reason why I’ve often said the Sunderland lads are a great bunch on here. Gonna miss him. RIP Burley.
I’m genuinely very sad to hear that. He came across as a very nice guy and bore his illness with dignity and courage. R.I.P.
Burley and I used to inbox. Hes been there through my divorce and knows more about me than half my family. Men like him dont get made like that anymore and i generally believe that. I lost my grandad 2 years ago and he was the most amazing man anyone could meet aswell. People are cut from different cloth nowadays. Excuse my rant but im gutted Burley has gone
