Hes the one player in the team that atm we can’t really replace which is a worry. It’s no wonder that klopp tries to give him 10-15 min rest most games as it’s hard to leave him out the first team. Only had to watch the wolves game to see the vast difference in quality between him and origi/Sturridge. If we can find another one like him somewhere out there who can come in and be back up would be very handy but where do you find them?
Good question, but then again you "found" him. I read the Spurs threads and they reckon they can't find anyone affordable as back up to their first team, if they looked at most of your first team they would realise they are talking total bullshit. Yep, my team has a propensity for paying top dollar for "big" names but it has proved often to be folly, there are players out there at the right price with the required ability if you care to look.
It’s hard because the best players won’t come and be back up but then that’s why you rotate the squad. It goes back to something that gets said a lot that don’t buy back up players. Buy first team players and If they are better than you already have then your current player becomes the back up. With 4 comps and 50+ games a season it’s a squad game anyway so a lot of players aren’t really back up if you’re rotating your squad to get the most out of them. Problem spirs have is that that they’ve brought back up to Kane in players that just aren’t good enough. Buy someone to actually compete with him. That way you don’t miss him when he’s out of form or injured. Sure easier said than done, but he cost you nothing to buy so it’s not like you’re buying 2 90m forwards and leaving one on the bench. As as you say there is still value out there. Robbo was 8m. Gomez was a young kid but was £5m I think? Shaq 13m. Milner was free. Matip was free.
It's now a possibility and nothing more, much more achievable than 5 weeks ago though. We are very dependant on other teams, Chelsea being the obvious one (though Spurs could let us in on past performances )
I think Spurs will have enough, I don't see you having much chance of catching any of the top 3. Chelsea are a bit hit and miss, and Arsenal are playing silly buggers again so you never know. So much depends on keeping the egos in check.
Liverpool value Origi at £20million but want him to stay put as back-up to Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge.
the words back.up are dangerous ones. Never sign back up. Sign to improve first team and then see what's what.
They've got a similar issue with Kane as we had with Torres. It's almost like having a top notch keeper; no one is displacing him.
That doesn't mean they need to stop trying and settle for llorente then never use him so the rare time they need him he misses a sitter like yesterday. For me poch is very..... linear. its 4231. one man up theres 3 behind. thats just it. the only player poch has tried up top is son and he's not a striker, i know you rate him but i think he's a runner and a headless chicken type. Really what they need to be doing is finding a player like salah Can play up top but also play in the side. Lucas moura was a good buy but he was a levy bargain and is really very much a wide player. Alli is a CM pushed on. he's now forgotten who t o play cm if he ever knew day 1. Eriksen is a really intelligent brilliant footballer but hes a midfielder not a forward as well. I think there's huge score there for spurs to buy a good forward who can play across the line. Our issue with torres wasn't.... well it wasnt he was just so good it was G&H wouldn't spend and we had kuyt aging and bough a benayuon etc.
TBH I might agree but spurs don't seem to. they have Kane... and here is the more ****ty old and ineffective version of Kane (a view of spurs future) in llorente. We have mane who can play either wide position but likes to roam. Salah who can play any of the positions along the front line. Firmino who can but shouldn't play anywhere along the front line but then we've shaqiri, who isn't that good, falls over ball a lot and is generally exactly what he was signed for.. cheap reserve Sturridge. **** no 9 Origi just plan ****. We spend all our money on keita, alisson and VVD.... and fabinho. We had needs in all 3 areas but you will recall I said we needed a versatile forward all summer and i stand by it. We imo are trusting a bit to luck now for 16 games that we get no serious injuries. For me next summer this is my primary team need. We need genuine competition to the front 3 not dog **** like we have.
"For me next summer this is my primary team need. We need genuine competition to the front 3 not dog **** like we have." why i was hoping there was something in the werner links but i don't think we will be doing anything unless we get rid. i know klopp has said things about origi and sturridge but i think thats because we haven't had decent offers on them to maybe do something to get werner, get rid of both of them and i can see us going for werner, but doesn't look likely sadly.
Can't actually see us off loading Sturridge for any money, why would anybody pay for a striker who hardly makes an effort and is prone to chipping his nail varnish along with a stinking attitude.Reckon he'll run down his contract and go on a freebie.
true, but january you get teams desperate for strikers, just hope we find one lol. his wages is probably biggest issue though sadly.
I think we are very likely to sell origi to further balance the books this january. If we do and find a club needing a forward (there are a few) then we will face final 16 games with only sturridge and shaqirir as the options. the further down we get the spend this financial year the better the following year starting june 1st can be. I might be wrong but the reality of origi is a guy who'd blundering about hoping for a break and he just doesn't suite the game plan... so keeping him is insurance. Ings fitted the game plan more but i agreed with his loan/sale.
