He'd probably be banned for a while and whichever club he turns up at will get sued and given punishments.

Let's reverse your scenario:

If Utd wanted to buy, say, Modric, and Real said no. Could Modric just turn up at United and start playing for them?

Have you got an example of that?

At work so can't scour the internet for examples, but it's probably happened before. A few years ago a manager 'resigned' (one of the **** ones, a McClaren or a Pardew, can't remember) then joined his new club a few months later and got sued for it.

West Ham had to cough up for Pardew, who had been put on 'gardening leave' after he resigned from Reading, do;t think UEFA got invovled, but it could've turned messy.

I remember that but both you and him got what you want with no suspensions etc. right?

Managers and players don’t have the same contractual rights/constraints.

In this scenario I doubt it will get messy, as it’s in no party’s interest to drag out the negotiations and we have enough money to get the man we want. I doubt we will pay the full amount but it’ll be a big fee nevertheless.

Reactions: PINKIE
Ole could be just the board being cheap and getting in someone who doesn't cost much compensation, if he does well he could stay in the job.

He’s been brought in to appease the fans, the brand and the directors. The bloke won’t pull up any trees in 6 months but at least he will stop people turning their back on the club and causing a fuss.

I highly doubt he’ll get the gig full time unless he delivers old big ears.

If he does well and they keep him are you happy with that?

He’s a club legend. I’m delighted that he’s got the gig and would be happy to see him get it full time. The club lost its identity when LVG became manager and it got even worse when the **** signed up. **** winning trophies, football is supposed to be fun and it’s not been any fun being a United fan for the last 5 years.

I agree, you have to enjoy what you're watching and the idiots you've had in charge lately have screwed the fans over.

If he does well - that’s a bit open ended. Would I be happy to keep him if he starts playing attacking football and we are better than Mourinho’s United? Not really, I need to see more from him than that.

I think as a minimum he’d need to deliver a stunning CL run and get top 4 and I don’t see that happening.

I can only really answer that in 6 months but yeah, I’d prefer Ole to do well and stay and win things than Poch or Zidane.

I joked above about him being your Roy Hodgson but he is like your Kenny Dalglish imo; someone the fans relate to, will be happy with, willing to help out initially in a short term basis with the possibility of it being longer, etc but plenty of question marks over whether he's a suitable long term option.
