I have been reading articles on various sites, that Bruce offered Gyan for Crouch, personally glad it never happened, but now reading Gyan put in a transfer request, on deadline day, seems the Turkish lot have offered a paltry £5 mill for him. any of this true? Just picked up another one. ------------------------------- Sunderland will find out in the next 24 hours the immediate future of striker Asamoah Gyan as he has been linked with a move to Turkey. The Ghanaian striker was rumoured to want out of the Stadium of Light on the final day of the transfer window and there was some speculation that he went as far to hand in a transfer request. No move materialised in this time, but there is still a chance that he could complete a switch to either Galatasaray or Fenerbahce, as the Turkish transfer window does not close until tonight. Galatasaray are believed to have offered around £5m for Gyan, while match-fixing allegations mean that Fenerbahce cannot sign players permanently and so will be looking for a loan deal. However, Galatasaray may have to up their offer significantly if they want to encourage Sunderland to sell, as Steve Bruce will want to recoup close to the £13m he paid Rennes for Gyan last summer. But with Gyan supposedly causing some unrest within the camp and Nicklas Bendtner being bought in on the final day of the transfer window, Bruce may lower his demands and allow the 25-year-old to leave. If Gyan does head to Galatasaray, West Ham will be one club pleased with the deal as it would logically mean that they would maintain the services of Carlton Cole. Cole is another striker linked with a deadline-day move to Turkey and Galatasaray are also thought to have tabled a £5m bid for the Championship striker. Gyan is currently sidelined by a thigh injury that caused him to be stretchered off in Ghana’s African Cup of Nations qualifier with Swaziland, but if he remains at Sunderland he should pass fit to face Chelsea this weekend. Sunderland’s odds are 7/2 to beat Chelsea, with the visitors 4/6 to take the three points.
Well it never happened, so nowt to worry about. One thing for sure Gyan will be off sooner or later, be it Jan or the summer.
Yip I said this on deadline day, I think the best we can hope for is that gyan has a good season.and we sell him for a profit. If he has a stormer and knocks in 15 goals and one of the big boys comes knocking with 15-20m he'd have my blessing and id wish him well. I think if people are honest one of the reasons why the Bent fiasco left such a bitter taste was that he went to.Villa, I think if he'd gone top 5 then people would have thought fair enough. The Jones to Stoke deal stunk for me too.
Gyan is starting to get on my nerves now, the last thing we need is a player not wanting to be here, roll on January and get rid of him, get someone in who wants to play for the club
Maybe a good idea to pay less attention to pres reports. Steed's non existent son having cancer is a good example.
flanders - I have said a number of time IF Gyan wants out then he has a lot of explaining to do (if he's causing unrest) but there have been only press unfounded rumours circulating. One said he had asked for a transfer and then, withing an hour of that, he had come out himself and said he does not want a transfer and that he is concentrated on SAFC. I don't believe Gyan is causing unrest - I believe that the press is causing unrest by printing complete bullshit. I do think Gyan has to work hard for us and prove his worth now as he hasn't looked as sharp in the first few games as he did last season. But 1 goal could change that easily and 1 performance could change everyone's opinion. I think the lad has ability but am hoping he has been playing the way he has recently due to fitness rather than lack of interest in us. I have heard nothing from the club or from gyan himself which would cause unrest so all of these rumours from the press seem to be made up for some inexplicable reason.
Toon fan in peace. From what I gather SAFC first offered Gyan to Marseille, then Spurs, eventually 2 turkish clubs came in and inquired about taking Gyan on loan, before the turkish transfer window shut last night. From what I can tell Sunderland actually tried to sell Gyan, in order to generate funds to persue a different striker, maybe Cissé? Rather than Gyan wanting to leave. It looks like Bruce wants a different striker, not Gyan. So yes, it looks like he's not going to stay beyond next summer. However a lot can happen until then. He can score a boatload of goals for instance. Therefore... I wouldn't get on Gyan's back quite yet. I don't believe the whole transfer request thing. That is probably a rumor coming from the hirarchy of the club who have been trying to offload him or swap him for Crouch (which in business terms would have been a poor deal but maybe would have made sense in footballing terms, who knows, contemplating it is pretty vain now). Gyan seems like a relaxed lad to me who didn't take action to instigate a move.
I have no idea and would suggest that neither does anyone else on here, no smoke without fire and no truth without substance, you pays your money and takes your chance. My guess, and its no more than a guess, is that Gyan will go in Jan at a profit and Pav will come in with a strike force of Pav and Bendy.
I dont mind Crouch but think his best is behind him and my big concern would have been he was here because he was told to get out, not because he wanted to be here. I dont demand tallent and skill, just hope for them. I do demand committment and desire and I would have doubted Crouchies.
I have said since pre -season when i went to the Burnley friendly Gyan was absolutley dire and instead of a player looking forward to the season looked like a player who did,nt give a ****. I was at Anfield and to me he faired no better and i have seen little for me to change my mind. Its time this stupid transfer window was closed on the 31st July, all the deals can be done before the season starts everyone knows what their aquad is and can concentrate on the job in hand I like Gyan but if he wants to go then let him, but not for less than we paid i just hope he has the decency to knuckle down It was reported we offered him in a swap deal for Gignac. Bruce has one chance to save his job. Get a striker lined up for Jan whether Gyan leaves or not he is going in the summer in my opinion. This smells of when Bent wanted to go in the August and we tried to keep things quiet and we never got the replacement This smells of K. Philips wanting to go for 18 months because we did not replace Quinn. On another note and i don't want the guy really but Mcfadden is a free agent and if Gyan can't be arsed and Bendtner gets injured we find ourselves again without a striker One of these days ill get out of bed and everything will be rosy instead of me pulling my ****ing hair out (both of them)
Exactly. If even his ex team mates were done with the "prank" it shows the level completely untrue rumours can get. Gyan said he did not know about the rumours, he is still at the club, he says he is happy to be there. Makes me think most of the Gyan rumours are probably created by crackhears in here.
I have had that same desire, slightly longer, so a song for you, enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6Qd9VR1gD8
Been up since 9-00am im on 2-10 lol and i end up staying up untill 2-00am its a long bloody time since i chased my wife around the bedroom lol. Now im frightened i catch her lol
The facts are that Gyan came out and denied that he has put in a transfer request, and until I here anything different, it is that statement that I will hold as true...However, Gyan's form has been slightly worrying so far this season, and he does look to be carrying a bit of extra weight. having said that, I wouldn't go with the theme that he doesn't look bothered, as he has been chasing balls into the corners and putting the effort in to get in scoring positions. I would say that all he needs is a goal or two and a couple of good performances to build up his confidence and get him back on track.
MrRAW. I think we both know he will leg it as fast as poss, shame but there it is, the club genuinely lacks the ambition of the fans. and the players feel it, the almost players will just take the money, and for them HAPPY DAYS.
That's only if you take all the rumours going about as being fact. They may well turn out to be true, but until I see some objective evidence rather than subjective rumours, I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
