Supposedly the new trains are dual powered. Electric with a diesel engine for the initial Hull to East coast mainline part of the journey?
But not due until next December. Question is whether they can hang on that long. Hope so, was a good service for a long while.

I actually walked into that ground and had a look around a couple of years back. No locks no barriers just an open exit where groundsmen were doing some work. Club Brugge share it with lesser known Cercle. It's about 15 mins walk from centre and passes a good cheese shop (no gimmicks, no 'offers' no cheddar, nowt else but cheeses in a non hipster way), as well as good bike shop. Dint see the equivalent of Neise,s Diner though.

Its not far from the railway station...I did Ostend to Brugge on the train a few years back, took about 20 mins..Great place is Brugge, very atmospheric.
Centre can be a bit twee with all the defecating horses and carriages, but restaurants, food and bike and shops are top notch.
One of these years I will take bike on ferry and do Zeebrugge to Bruges.The coast bike trail is good too, Knokke well worth the effort.
Good place Bruges, less than half the size of Hull and easy to get round but with a wide choice of dining and drinking. More places in Markt Square than a lot of city centres in larger places here.
First went there in 1974. Restricted to what you could see as the Belgian farmers were blockading the roads in and out in protest at their poverty and demanding more EEC subsidies. Never seen so many Mercedes in one place.
There was a proposed new ground the council were supposed to be building but that seems to have stalled.
Another day, another cancellation...

That's the 4th day in a row this train has been cancelled, and I've only been checking it since last Thursday, so it may have been not running for weeks.
They'll be in service shortly after the replacement buses are built!

Scarborough to Hull was supposedly the most expensive per mile journey on a standard service and the slowest. Don't know if that is still the case. Instead of spending money maintaining the track they just cut down the speeds especially between Scarborough and Brid.
Was it Southern Rail who had all profits eliminated this last week and fined XXX million for breakdown in service..
The entire coastline of Belgium from one end to the other is only about 50 miles...Easily doable on bike.
There are some very nice seaside places.
Was in Bruges last Tuesday sat in brilliant sunshine with not a cloud in the sky. Had a couple of Leffe Bruins sat outside a nice little bar in Markt Square.
Always amuses me when people say we can't have the outside cafes and bars they have in Europe because of the weather. It isn't noticeably different in places like Belgium and they manage. Our squares, at least in cities where we have them, could do with taking a look at places like Bruges to see how to make use of them instead of the deserted places they are here after 6pm.
Bang on mate. The place was beautiful in the winter sun with hundreds of people enjoying food, drink and just watching the world go by. The atmosphere was lovely unlike in this country where our market places and public spaces etc are full of arseholes on spice or beggars.
Only grumble was that the Leffe was Euro 7.90 for 500ml.
There's plenty of places in this country where people sit outside in winter, I was in London last week and there were loads of people enjoying some outside dining. .
