How many times has Routledge played for England... or a seriously competitive club?

Just realised MVR, you've cross threaded this to Swansea. Obviously wum territory...

I think everyone would expect SWP to do better this season, after all he has played for much bigger clubs, had 36 England caps, and is probably on double the wages that Routledge is on. I doubt he will be that much better than Routledge and I think for the money, we may have the better deal
 
We'd have all taken Routledge in May. He's too good for the championship.

Would ANYONE swap him with SWP?

Not me.
 
Routledge was great last year and I was gutted when we didn't sign him!! BUT..... SWP is a different class. Routledge is too good for the Championship but not good enough for the premier! Hope he does OK for the Swans and I hope they stay up - once we are safe. Anything to annoy their South Wales neighbours!!

This reflected my initial thinking also. However, the difference between an extra couple of points by having SWP versus Routledge could represent the difference between survival and relegation. If this proves to be the case, SWP would definitely prove better value.

I guess that's what Warnock is buying into. You would hope that extra money gets you a few extra points and like you said, that could be the difference between being relegated or not. They have both got to be at the top their game if they are gonna get those couple of extra points though
 
Routledge is one of those players caught between the two divisions. Too good for the Championship, but not good enough for the Premier league.
 
True point Smudger but for NUFC. Last year he fitted well for us at a time when we were flying high and he just added to the buzz. Hope he does well for the Swans. We are all waiting to see what QPR are to be honest and no ones knows but if NW does the same job on the team as last year then I believe we will do very well
 
SWP is a proven Prem player, WR seems to always fall short in this league although he was great for us last season and won us a fair few points.
 
I'll also add that even if they were equal on skill then I'd still choose SWP - he seems enthused by the prospect of playing for us after a spell at Chelsea and two at City. Routledge seemed indifferent last year and has barely committed to anyone (except wanting away from us to go to Newcastle in the first place).

I would also like to wish the Swans well (not at our expense though). They're guaranteed to win friends with their quality football.
