What will happen in 10 years time when all cars will be electric? Lost revenue will be a big hole to fill.
Just received my custom pedal assist electric trike with a seat at the back for my 2 kids so I can take them to school- it's a blast with top speed of 35 kmh

Energy prices will be through the roof by then ;)

Isn't that the aim of the tax in the first place? To make expensive alternative transport more viable until it becomes mass produced and cheaper.

Sure they'll have to tax something else but there's never a shortage on things to tax.

Well, the woman taking over from Angela Merkel should slow down the "if Germany couldn't beat us in WW2 so they'll do it through politics brigade" because they'll never be able to remember her name!

I hope May is paying attention to France right now. Because these protest can be rather contagious. You keep telling the society how much worse its going to get, and sometimes the reaction becomes inevitable.

the idea is cool but remember we are British. We had riots over something. Everbody (of that age group / class / region )joined in yet they went back to their playstations 3 days later. I can't ever see something like is happening in France happening here...........even with Brexit sentiment.

There may be small scale riots. There may be protests but the key thing will be mass reduction of voter turnout in the future.

We protest but no-one is going to spend weeks/weekends over a period of time on tha scale of what is happening in France.

That is the whole problem. We trust in elections and votes. We trust that we are in control. If we don;t trust then there may be a little bit of a scrum but we will voice our discontent at the ballot box....and by not turning up that is us showing disapproval. Remember we have had incresing voter turnout since 2010 and we may be back to pre Blair turnouts.

Anyway. Still coming to terms with sheddding a happy tear (or more) over Harry. The most human emotional response to seeing his wife than any of the others in there.

Did you remember the Poll Tax riots, Imps, or am I showing my age here?
