Pies Do like a Pukka steak pie, but an old boss from Manchester introduced me to Hollands meat pies and they were very good - just hard to find! Also had a lovely steak and cheese pie at a rugby match in New Zealand
I like a good old fashioned corned beef pie from a good old fashioned pub. With chips, peas (garden, not mushy (rank)) and gravy.
Wales mate ... they have a thing they bizarrely call a "Pastie pie" which is a corned beef based pie ... had some cracking home made ones in pubs please log in to view this image
Had a pasty yesterday on the way home from work. Local bakery does it’s own, pretty damn good as it goes. Do like a steak and kidney pudding, not had one for years.
One of the best pies I ever had was in East Anglia, suet based steak and kidney cooked in a clay pot, it was superb. Looked a bit like this... please log in to view this image
I'm going to have a pie tonight. All the pubs here in Bath get supplied by pieminister, they have some good ****. https://www.pieminister.co.uk/food/pies/
Cherry pie with custard, I have it quite a lot. when you were a kid and dreamed you could eat cake, pudding and sweets for every meal, I live that dream.
Yeah, my Mrs does a fine pasty pie. Odd name really? I think in that area the default pasty is corned beef and potato and, as this version is a pie, they just call it pasty pie. Instead of corned beef and potato pie. It can't be both ffs!!
One thing I don’t like about pies is that you can call a pie a pie even when the entire contents aren’t surrounded by pastry.
