Me too. I thought this book was fascinating although some question it’s authenticity. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_I_Die_in_a_Combat_Zone,_Box_Me_Up_and_Ship_Me_Home
Not one of my favourites, not that i really have many favourites in music, i tend to be more of a critic. Aside from the instrumental, I think the let down for me with that song is i didn't think it was Ziggy/Bowie at his best. I joked Elvis, but to me it comes across as a soul mock of Little Richard (hence sax). It's one of those marmite performances.
See it wasn't to me. To me, it was just Bowie showing just how good he can be. He re-invented himself so many times, Bowie was actually fantastic, i never realised it at the time
I rate two artists highly, Bowie and Mercury, if i could have my life again, i would pay good money to watch this...
Slight opposite for me, i never under rated them, Freddie was the artist and Ziggy/Bowie the guy that could adapt through the ages and in the face of prejudices, that is artistic style allowed him to get away with. People that i have no time for is Ed Sheeran, talented but a con artist. At least Freddie was up front when he copied something from Chic, that was more out of respect than to make money out of them.
Biggest argument going. The answer is probably yes in my view, i've studied enough music to know, give me a sound and i will link it to another song. For example, i could give you off the top of my head, Simple Man C - G - AM...now i give you No Woman No Cry...two completely different songs, but guess what the chords are in the same basic form, without further progression, you got it C - G - AM...want to go another step further, both songs have walk ups too, guess where....both on the C. I hasten to re-add these are two completely different songs, I'm only using the most basic form as an example of how things will always appear the same. So there will always be similarities, but it's how far you take it, do you lift a song and copy it in every way. In my mind that's where Ed Sheeran comes in...I'm sure it all started with something to do with Snow Patrol, but i would need to go away and do my research on that one.
and that's the argument, Ed Sheeran is a cover version Even Madonna got sued several times, and despite denials paid up out of court. Especially when she stole stuff for her videos, I've seen what she stole at first hand, before i even realised she got sued for it...it was a case of hang on i've seen this before...and i was right. It was one of the most blatant rip offs ever.
carry on you tool. i pity your insecurity and lack of a life. but then you did spawn metths and ran off.
I don't have a best song. I've studied music, but tend to be more of a critic. I get bored very easy with artists, my attention span is not very good But i will see the night out with this... oh btw, I cannot stand the Beatles!
