If Hughes stays, someone at the club needs to go over his head and bring in a bloody good defensive coach. It doesn’t matter if it puts noses out of joint. I have said it before, and I will say it again, Stoke’s defence went from being as tight as a duck’s posterior, under Pulis, to becoming porous under Hughes. I doubted that he would improve our defence, and I ain’t wrong there.
Maybe we should employ Pellegrino and Hughes as two managers. Under Pellegrino we were utter ****e in attack but quite solid defensively. Under Hughes we are utter ****e in defence but quite good (ish) in attack. Maybe combined they will do a half decent job.
Hughes can’t stay, but we also need to have a good look at personnel. Our CB’s are ****, our midfield no longer dominate and we have no creativity. Our strikers can’t hit a cows arse with a banjo.
A better manager could improve our defence at least. Our midfield hasn't really dominated anything for ages. Ings and Gabbi have the answers between them to the striker problem. We could be looking at the giddy heights of 14th with this squad imo.
Please let’s just get this done as quickly and painless as possible rather than dragging this on and on like MP last season
With a better onfield mentality and game management we could easily have at least 10 more points on the board. Motivation is very much under the coaching staff's remit and mainly the Manager's. Our general play hasn't been too bad and we have been in all of the games apart from against the elite and a new man at the helm might just tip the balance in our favour.
