I must have missed that as my eye was caught by Jenkins staying on. But the way the winner clouted the second last you'd have to say he did brilliant to recover and win.
You need to watch it again brother. The grey cruised in to the race. Le Breuil moves away from the rail and squeezes him up. White Moon would have hosed up. Great sit by Mark Grant, the horses head coming back up keeps him on board. Typical Cheltenham finish. I backed Jenkins at 11/1 EW 1-2-3....nuff said!
I'll try and find a replay ................... Surely Jenkins has to go up in trip after that? Hopelessly outpaced but stayed on really nicely. Might he make up into an RSA type? Jumped very clean again but just found wanting for pace at the business end.
Jockey Club Video Agree on Jenkins. That was a solid run but badly outpaced when they turned the screw.
Whenever I see Bless The Wings running it rekindles bittersweet memories for me........................... rewind to Boxing Day 2011 and I backed him in the novices handicap chase at Kempton, where he finished second to Donald McCain's Our Mick. Had he won I would have gone through the card that day - Tetlami seeing off Vulcanite, Grands Crus storming home in the Feltham, Binocular and AP just prevailing over Ruby and Rock On Ruby in the Christmas Hurdle, Kauto Star's unbelieveable King George the fifth and all finished off by Paddy Brennan making a decisive move up the inside on Knight Pass for Malcolm Denmark and Warren Greatrex. A memorable day
Hmmm - the grey was certainly coming back into it but I'm not sure he would have hosed up - he'd been under a drive since the 3rd last and was still over a length down when falling. I'm not at all sure he would have got past Count Meribel and to me it looks like he landed awkwardly after the last and fell, rather than being squeezed up?
Didn’t back either but well done to fergal today. Been knocking on the door for a while, big day today.
Not sure it was the ground, I just think that the gradual turn when going wide allowed him to get the horses speed up at the key time. Expect to see luck in running tomorrow when everyone wants to grab the rail. Class jockey, the ride on the 33/1 shot for me was superb and much better than the sit and recovery on Count Meribel
Not sure if you saw the footage from the side view, but that was more clear on the taking of his ground and also showed him going forward well at the time. Very unlucky
Hope so. Some fascinating races today, not looked at the times but some of the races seemed falsely run.
