they've only got 3 quality strikers, can't see this happening in january, unless they buy 1 or 2 strikers which is unlikely as their priority will be cahill imo. Lazy journalism at it's best but if it was true i'd definitely be happy with pav like

So just to get this right!
Bruce's third choice was Bendtner?
Bruce was trying to offload Gyan?
Bruce has £8 million for an unproven kid, but doesn't have money for a proven striker?

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will make a new move for Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko in the next *window.

Bruce failed in a deal to land the Russian hit man on loan when Spurs pulled the plug in the final hours – and left him having to settle for Nicklas Bendtner from Arsenal.

Pavlyuchenko, 29, was poised to go to Wearside but Spurs *supremo Daniel Levy changed his mind *because he could not land a suitable replacement with Peter Crouch heading out of the door.

However, the former Spartak Moscow forward knows his Spurs days are *numbered and may be open to joining Bruce – if he is given money for a full-time transfer in January.

Bruce had a miserable last few days in the window, missing out on Crouch and also failing to raise the cash for Freiburg’s Senegalese star Papiss Demba Cisse.

Bendtner was the last striker *option he had. The pair had previously worked *together at Birmingham City, but the loan switch was a last-minute job.

Bruce was unable to sell the players he *wanted which would have allowed him to buy a proven striker.

Agents tried to find a home for Asamoah Gyan and he was even offered on loan for a £2million ‘rental’ fee for the season. Anton Ferdinand’s stop-start exit to QPR also held up Sunderland’s strategy while other *players could not be shifted, *leaving Bruce out of time and options

Happy with Bendtner, but a Bendtner/Pav strikeforce sounds pretty awesome to me.......

Especially with Ji pushing them......

Hoping this is what happens in Jan.

The key bit is that again the Gyan rumour is there. Looking like a lot more than a rumour and one I dont mind, providing we get a replacement.

So you're the leader of the GOB's?

Sorry mate I'm a GIB.

But I assume your wanting rid of Gyan is OK, as opposed to anyone questioning Bruce? :p

I'm off to start numerous threads having a go at any one who doesn't rate Gyan. <ok>

Im sick of the Gyan rumours but the more i hear the more i think there is an element of truth in them

The one worrying statement is this

Bruce has spent £8 million for an unproven kid, but doesn't have money for a proven striker

That £8m and the £10m they were willing to spend on Crouch should have been put together for a £15 to £20m striker and i would love Cisse here

You have me wrong MR. I like Gyan but if he is going then the sooner the better, I think the way Bent left made me feel its better out if thats what they want.

I'm hoping that Gyan and Bendy hit off a cracking partnership and both are that happy in Jan that neither want to go.

I'm alos not a Bruce in, more a not Bruce out right now.
