I seem to recall something along the lines of "he feels like the perfect fit", but I could be remembering wrongly and I can't be bothered to look back through threads to try and find it. If you don't remember saying it then I'm probably wrong.

I might have said something like that, it’s the sort of thing I sometimes say when I’m trying to convince myself of something.

Anyway, I don’t think Hughes is our problem really - in fact I still don’t think Pellegrino was the cause of our problems last season, though it obviously didn’t help having a manager with no experience of the PL. Hughes has plenty of experience of the PL and that’s not working out either.

The one thing I’m certain of is that the business model whereby we sold our best players every season, and replaced them with even better ones for half the price was doomed to fail, and now it has.
 
Up until kick off on Sunday we had scored as many goals in 10 PL games as City would go on to score against us.
 
Just to show how bad last season was, I believe our draw today means we are now one point ahead in the direct comparison of results between this season and last (if you say that Wolves are the direct replacement for Stoke).

We've improved with home draws against Burnley and Watford, but dropped a draw away to Everton.
 
The best three-game running points total for Saints since the start of last season is 5: never mind consecutive victories, the team has not won twice in three league games since 2016-17. We're the only one of the 17 teams that survived last season that can make that claim.

So the next time we win (assuming there is one) and someone says "I think we will go on a run from here", sell them your tickets to upcoming games.

I'm not fussed about whether or not you want to turn up throughout December; given that the matches are against Man Utd, Arsenal, West Ham and Man City (possibly twice), whether you turn up or not shouldn't really matter.

But you will need to think very carefully about 2019. If we could actually play well at home, then the second half of the season would be very fruitful for us. I doubt many, if any, other sides have a final nine home games of the difficult level of Everton, Palace, Cardiff, Fulham, Spurs, Liverpool, Wolves, Bmouth, Huddersfield. For sides who can actually win at home, there would be so many points to be had from those nine games. So if that means you having to stay away...

Just can’t get over 1 Home win in a whole year. That is absolutely shocking

I can’t see us winning any of the other home games this year either - especially the United game which will give us our 1 year anniversary
