I think this is much more likely personally, a closed shop adaptation of the CL with the big boys and then two further competitions for which you qualify domestically like we have now.

Forget the pet BT ref with his second phase bullshit, the linesman didn't flag for that, he flagged because Mane was off side when the through ball was played and chased after it. As soon as he chased it he was interfering with play and as such off side.
Chasing the ball doesn't make you active, only an attempt to play it does

I'd sack off all this interfering with play bollocks off personally, nine times out of ten if you're on the pitch then you're interfering with play in my book.

Once you move toward the ball you are interfering/intending to interfere with play. This happens every week around the league and is not limited to Liverpool

Sorry but I’ve got to disagree. Chasing the ball is the same as attempting to play it. Otherwise why chase it
that’s why offsides are invariably given once the offside player run towards the ball. No need to wait until contact is made with the ball.

Perhaps when you're the only player on your team anywhere near the ball, but not in this case when someone else on your team already has the ball, then you're just in support
