I disagree, we are not light years behind the cities you mention, we are just smaller and at a geographical disadvantage. We exceeded at city of culture which placed the negative Geraghty mindset in our city back into the minority, never let it hold us back again.
I agree it propagates a small minded attitude which you regularly see in the inter sport pulling apart !!

Ambition imo would have been building a arena of an actual decent size that would bring big stars and money into the city which would see us compete with sheffield/leeds and have it ready for the city of culture year. Instead we got a concert hall to small to bring anyone of any real great shakes.

We just never seem to do anything ambitious or it happens years after it should
How many times have you been to the Arena?

You see it at lots of other times- not just supporting underachieving RL clubs.

Like voting for **** councillors or being an armchair slob supporting a Top 4 club from a city with which you have no connection.

See I've never got the whole thing about people make a City.

I've lived in numerous Cities and made great friends in them. I've worked in many others including abroad and made great friends and loved the people in them all. I've always thought wherever you are if you are decent person you will meet good people. The cricket club, the guys I work with etc.. are great in Manchester and they where in Hull. I think that whole thing is devoid, the reason I and many thousands relocate to other Cities is never based on the people.

I love Hull, but it is has its faults. Since CoC it's like anyone who criticise the place or has honest feedback is jumped on. You can objectively criticise a place without it meaning you hate somewhere.

I was there approx one every 2 weeks during construction and I've been twice since opening, why?
As a paying customer?
Just wondering really
Some people who said it should have been bigger don’t seem to have actually been to any events there
My opinion is it seems about right size. There doesn’t seem to have been that many nights sold out has there?

It’s not the buildings or the infrastructure or the investment or the local Councillors or the transport links or the sport teams or the size of it’s Concert Hall that make a City stand out above the others.

The people make the City & because of that Hull is head & shoulders above most. The people are the reason the City exceeded all expections in regards to last year’s CofC celebrations. It outshone the efforts of all previous Cities & raised the bar so high that those following will fail to reach the expectations set.

The people. Power to the people.
‘Concert Hall’
I like that
I’m nicking it

Agreed that Hull like everywhere has its share of utter ****s.

What rankles is when people dismiss the place out of hand, or focus on the negatives when those same people seem only to want to focus on the positives of other cities.

Case in point being London: nearly always gets fawningly +ve gushing Press when it's overpriced, dangerous, unfriendly, greedy and self-regarding.

We have a long way to go before we get more truthful and honest opinions in the media,

It's not the size it's the cost that's baffling !!

Don't get me wrong, for what it is, it's a fantastic building. I just think we as a city should have aimed higher

Im amazed givin his total lack if knowledge of Hull City that he didnt get on like a house on fire with the Allams.
Geraghty was the cause of a lot of the bad blood that flowed and eventually poisoned the Allam's reign at City resulting from that initial meeting. HCC and HCFC have been at odds ever since.

Someone on here said that Geriatric Terry was no longer on the council....Like hell. Whilst the geezer may have done some use about 30 years ago, the only way he'll leave is in a wooden overcoat...
