Arsenal boss Unai Emery wants to change history against Liverpool https://www.skysports.com/football/...ery-wants-to-change-history-against-liverpool
"Last season, the Gunners won just once out of nine games against Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham." What happened to the other one?
Liverpool are not going to be Unai Emery's first casualty. He can change history in the North London derby.
I was just wondering how they only managed nine games against five clubs. Their defeats against the others were at the beginning of this season weren't they? They've been on a roll since. I think it'll be a tough game, but I expect we'll be up for it.
They prob ignored a draw somewhere. anyway my view is like Bournemouth, arsenal have had it relatively easy. realistically lfc have won 1 and draw 2 v top 5 this far. Arsenal lost their only 2. the rest of the teams are just not taking many points at all off top 5. we need to win this one.
The games against Man Utd only count as one because they only had to put in half the amount of effort?
Tbh the gap between the top 6 and the rest is getting bigger by the season. Its hard to judge at the moment whether its because of the quality of managers (Klopp, Poch, Guardiola, Sarri, Mourinho & Emery) or the financial gap. It'd be a shame if this becomes the norm, though.
Last year it was big. I think 3 things are important. 1. Fees and wages. 2. Stability. At least to Spurs, liverpool, city and even Utd. Managers on way out cost both Chelsea and arsenal last year. This year it could be Utd and spurs. 3. Pure ability. The top 6 have the top players. Yes anyone in theory can beat anyone but we are really talking about the top teams taking about 8/10 points off the rest. I was looking at 2017/18....and you know what Huddersfield beating Utd probably was the extra 3 points that kept them up. It also gapped city at the top and they never looked back. I can see a natural time when managers leave and this current top 6 disintegrates into just a couple of teams and the rest again.
1h ago Roberto Firmino chasing LFC record against Arsenal Dominic Raynor Roberto Firmino will set a new Liverpool record if he scores during Saturday's Premier League clash with Arsenal at Emirates Stadium. The Brazilian has struck in each of the last three fixtures against the Gunners and no Red has ever netted in four successive matches versus the north London club. Firmino has an excellent overall goalscoring record against Arsenal, too, having netted five times in six games - to match his most prolific return against any side. And Liverpool have never lost any of the 21 away matches in all competitions in which the No.9 has scored, recording 18 wins and three draws. They have never scored more than eight in three successive league visits. Liverpool have now scored three or more in five successive games against Arsenal, which is a record between the clubs. The Reds' biggest Premier League win at Arsenal is a 2-0 victory in August 2011. That is the only occasion in the last 35 years that Liverpool have won this fixture by more than one goal. Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum made their Liverpool debuts in a 4-3 win at Emirates Stadium two seasons ago, when Mane also scored his first goal for the club. please log in to view this image The Senegal international has scored in three of his last four appearances against Arsenal. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 11 league games including the final match of last season, while they have lost only three of the last 39 in the top flight. Having already won at Tottenham Hotspur this season, the Reds could record victories at both north London clubs in the same league campaign for the first time since 1996-97. A win will see Liverpool record their best start to a Premier League season after 11 games. They currently have 26 points from 10 matches and picked up 27 points from their opening 11 matches of the 2002-03 campaign.
