So the definitive list is:........ Sorry, I can't do it myself. Know about half of em. What I was really looking for was the name of the player to the left of Ian McKechnie who I seem to recall larking around with in Bridlington at the time maybe. I thought the guy in the white coat was the pie supplier!
Stuart Blampey has this photo in his office these are the names he remembers. Top Row Left to right Wilf Dixon -coach Andy Davidson - coach Don't know Gordon Staniforth Don't know John Hawley Phil Holme Don't know Steve Holbrook Don't know Ray Petit Tommy Cavanagh- coach Jack Kennedy -physio Middle row Don Beardsley Les ? Geoff Hemmerman Vince Grimes Stuart Pilling Ian Mckechnie Geoff Wealands Stuart Pearson Paddy Walters Don't know Roy Greenwood Mel Green Stuart Blampey Stuart Croft Front Row Ian Butler Frank Banks Roger Devries Ken Houghton Billy Wilkinson Ken Knighton Terry Neil Jimmy McGill Malcolm Lord Paul O'Riley Ken Wagstaff John Kay
How come we ended up with Wilf Dixon and Tommy Cavanagh at the same time? Wilf was assistant to Harry Catterick when Everton won the league in 69/70= seemed a big catch at the time. Assume Tommy Cav came with Tommy Doc, from memory he was the enthusiastic spongeman after Jock McSeveney and before ';Muff ' (parp!) Radcliffe Still see 'Muff' on a matchday...he is still the 'dadders', although he looks a bit frail these days.
Photo is long before my time, but so many players!!! Compare that to our imfamous picture from the training camp a few years ago....
Need to pick up Stewy Pearson and Antique John Boy on the way anarl. Oh, and Ian Butler. Could show the Polish moody chops how to; A) Cross a ball B) Shoot. and C) Not be such a moody chops.
John Hawley looking Yes I'm wrong . Should have noticed Blampey stood behind Waggy and alongside Stuart Croft .
That squad only managed to finish 13th in 72-73 and only won 14 games out of 42, an underachievement.
