Complete overreaction as usual. If refs make decisions that deny/award goals against you, it's hard to overcome those problems - certain other teams don't have to. Its as if we're being blamed for the officials.

What’s happened to us since last year I don’t know

No fresh faces, multiple injuries, World Cup fatigue, international players over played in friendlies, delayed stadium...

It sounds like sour grapes but over many years I have watched this rubbish in European games, it's not surprising English clubs don't win as many Euro titles as they should. Tonight we have a game once again where the referee has more of an impact than either teams strikers. The standard of refereeing is appalling but I doubt it's going to change now. You can go back to the 1960's and the same thing was happening. <steam>
Somehow we keep getting the absolute worst inflicted on us: tonight's complete moron, that Portuguese bellend against Gent a couple of seasons ago, and that French tosser against Dnipro who was so good at his job he retired at the end of the season in spite only becoming a ref three years earlier

That and countless crap ones in the Premier League every bloody season, but I think that one's pretty universal for 80% of the league...

The tournament has the best players, but for some reason 2nd rate officials continually get appointed and make bad decisions.

But we have have been playing European football for a long time now and we should know what to expect in these matches and change our tackling and challenges accordingly

For anyone that's wondering what I was talking about in PSV v Inter, here's the incident:

You must have watched a different game to me, I thought Spurs played well but you can't beat the opposition when the ref is an idiot.
We were the better team by miles, but we dropped off before the **** up which lead to Lloris being sent off.
Removing Moura was odd, Dembele should've been replaced much earlier and our intensity disappeared for a while.
We started playing a little too casually and it cost us.

Were the officials ****? Yep. They have been in every game in the group, so far.
We've done too much to let them influence things though, for me.
We were well on top in this game and should've comfortably seen it out.
We were still outplaying them with 10 men at 2-2.

Sorry Spurf, but we had that game won, despite the referee. He didn't make Eriksen play a blind pass or Trippier give away a ridiculous free kick. There's no getting away from the fact that we've chucked away a precious chance in a prestigious tournament.

I'm not gonna make excuses we just weren't good enough to see the game out.as for Hugo I really don't know what to say anymore so many brain farts this season drop him and bring in Gazza ffs

We should be beating them..they were nothing special...regardless of the refs incompetency..we should be beating this team.

We played quite well tonight. In fact it was probably one of our better performances of the season. But once again we failed to kill the game off.
We seem to talk about refereeing decisions all the time and keep blaming them. We are much, if not more, the makers of our own downfall.

At some point we will get a bit of luck...the injuries will ease and the decisions will stop being so poor...
The offside tonight, the pool non penalty, the non penalty v Cardiff, the non sending off at West ham will stop.

However, unless we stop with the ridiculous mistakes we will suffer more set backs.

The players and the manager need to figure out how to cut out the mistakes if we are to have a successful season.

It's similar to the problem the World Cup frequently has: on the one hand it's perfectly fair to say that refs for the CL shouldn't just be drawn from the Spanish, German, French, Italian, English and Dutch leagues to make the whole thing a G14 love in - but on the other hand they really need to make sure there's a baseline of competence from their appointments - or, to put it another way, does anyone honestly believe UEFA would be happy to have tonight's ref in charge of the Champions League final? Because if their response to the question begins "Errm..." why would any other team in the competition be happy with him?

You cannot legislate for hitting the post and how many did we hit? That's not bad play or throwing it away that's just bad luck. I won't be swayed this time I thought we played well, my only criticism of them would be not attacking enough following going 2 - 1 up for the second time. We had to sub Dembele the ref had eyes for him having penalised him twice for dubious fouls.already and I thought we lost a little control when he did go off.

Let's win the EUFA cup!

Oh! but hang on we will have the same problem with refs in that competition as well.
