McLean makes us more dynamic and Vrancic adds another dimension with his long passing and longer through balls, as well as the extra bite he's added since his arrival. Much as I like Wes, it's hard to see how he'd get much game time with all of the options we have now. How we do this season rests on the players performing as a whole. Pukki and Marshall have settled in well, but it's still early days for Buendia, Passlack and the sudden emergence of 18 year old Max Aarons. The injuries to Hanley, Pinto and Lewis have disrupted their start to the season. Hopefully the international break will give time to add coherence and purpose to our play.

Even as one of Wes's staunchest fans, I felt it was the right time for him to leave. Good luck to him and Russell at WBA if that comes off, but we need to be looking forward, and enlisting players of that age is not what I want to see us doing.
West Brom are just down from the top flight and, as such, far more likely than us to be pushing for a top six spot. How ironic if Martin and Wes made it back to the top flight - emulating Ruddy and Ryan Bennett last year <yikes>

And I say Good Luck to them, but do they REALLY think they'll be in the squad next season if they do win promotion????
Remind me what JR is up to these days!!!!! <yikes>

Ruddy was relegated to the bench the moment Wolves signed Patricio, another from the Mendes stable. It was a good signing for them. JR helped Wolves keep a clean sheet in the League Cup and will just have to bide his time until if/when he is called upon.

I can't see why we would loan in Anthony Evans when we have TC EB and Marshall to continue to develop. Everton would want guaranteed playing time for him and that would be a slap in the face to our youngsters, IMO.

We were supposedly after a wide player all summer, despite having signed all those players, so I'm not too surprised if we do still have an interest in a winger. That said, I doubt Farke expected Max Aarons and Cantwell to be so influential this early in the campaign. That's pushed Marshall down the pecking order whilst he's been injured, and we have Passlack as well who is apparently an option further forward.

The full back positions are going to be interesting come January. Jamal Lewis is our only specialist Left Back, whilst Pinto and Aarons have also played there a little bit. On the right flank, Aarons, Pinto, Passlack and Marshall are all options. 5 full-backs seems a touch excessive given our finances, especially with Husband* back in January and contracted until 2020 too.

*Hadn't noticed Husband was back at Colney for treatment on a hamstring injury, a 3 week lay-off is anticipated.

We can't be sentimental as a club, if Evans is better now and could make the difference between 10th and 6th the players will need to up their game to keep Evans out. Football is a tough game and our youngster will need to deal with and use set backs to grow resilient and better.
But is he better? what can he add? let's face it, we're still well short on goals, might Evans bring them?

Bah!

I know football is a business and the goal is to get promoted, but I am sentimental and I get attached to players. Saying that, I also think it would be bad form from a coaching perspective to bring in Evans who Everton would expect to get playing time. Cutting to the front of the line. If he came here having to prove himself like everyone else it would make a little difference but not that much for me. Anyway I'm not giving a lot of credence to this rumor just yet.
