    Mandy -> Ba
    Nolan -> Cabaye
    Barton -> Obertan
    Enrique -> Santon

    We still have the money remaining to spend on a striker in January and have actually been trying to sign players (not our fault if players/other clubs don't play along).

    We've lost a few of our better players but have brought in some exciting, younger players too and importantly, the club have idenitified we are still after a striker to replace Carroll (they didn't try to pretend Ba was the answer).

    It's not brilliant but it's not bad, we've taken a sideways step that is hard to get either excited or angry over.

    Oh come on mate. I like your posts but they have had no intention of signing a striker to replace Carroll. Even Jon Anderson on Total Sport (ever the fence sitter) said so. They've had since January.

    Would the fact I forgot to mention Elliot as a new signing change your mood? ;)

    I think we'll be okay til January, Best is hitting form, Ba, Ameobi, Lovenkrands and Obertan (playing just behind the striker) should be enough to suppliment a strong midfield and pretty solid back 4. With the ACoN coming up, Ba and possibly Shola (<yikes>) will be away on international duty so we'll have to sign someone, no questions.

    I think we have the squad to play 451 since we have Ben Arfa, Obertan, Cabaye, Jonas and Vuckic who can all play behind a lone striker. If anything, this will give Sameobi the chance to get a few more games and potentially shine, I think he's not far off being a better option than Lovenkrands as an impact sub.

    I honestly don't feel we'd been lied to, just that we have once again failed to have a backup plan, we failed to get our main targets so got no one. Missing out on Shane Long was a bit daft and not getting one of the many last minute loans that appeared also seemed shortsighted but I think the club would rather 'muddle through' to the next window than spend a quick fortune on a fifth choice striker.

    It's a mess but we'll get by, probably more through resilience than cutting edge but our wingplay does look pretty nice now, just need a better finisher in January.

    It's all been done before and it got us nowhere, it's better that it's happening when a game isn't going on, but Ashley will never listen, so pretty much pointless.

    Oh God, imagine if the inbred brigade boycoutted tomorrow's match tomorrow, SSN would **** themselves laughing.

    I think a better protest would be if you're going to skip SJP, go to a local non-league club instead in black and white. If you have good numbers, take an anti-Ashley banner and be peaceful about it.

    If this is kept up it'll get in the papers, more as an annoyance and it will be a very clear message to MA. Bad publicity for MA whilst not disrupting the players, also getting a bit more income for our non-league clubs and so long as it is done peacefully, the extra revenue will be appreciated AND you'll still be getting a day out at a match without contributing to MA.

    Not that I have any major problem with MA but it'd be a much better way of 'protesting' in a way that only harms MA's reputation and not our own.

    Almost like the Man Utd green and white without a change of colours, a case of 'we're here, we're not leaving our homes to glory hunt but we WILL wait for you to leave'.

    <ok>

    Of course it'll be slow to start, but gradually the media will become interested when an extra 100 bodies turn up regularly at Whitley Bay (for example) wearing black and white and bearing a message. A slow burning campaign that will turn the media against MA (but not NUFC).

    What a lot of you don't seem to realise is that the only reason the media are interested is because there's a guarantee some of you will make tits out of yourselves... As for the media 'turning against MA but not NUFC', it's not going to happen I'm afraid; your club is only of interest to the media, and to the rest of football in general because it's a giant soap-opera.

    It might not be fair and it might be the product of 'plastic' Man U fans having a high following among media lovies but for whatever reason they're seen as fighting for the soul of football and you lot are seen as comedic relief; 'thick geordies with funny accents and a series of messiah complexes'.

    I don't expect any of you will publicly accept this from a Sunderland fan and instead choose to respond with inanities but maybe some of you will realise that I'm not having a pop at you.
