Wednesday will be up for it no doubt. It wasn't only their fans who looked on a little green with envy at the summer signings we made. I think Semedo will get a good reception but Hollands and Stephens will outmuscle and outclass him and Prutton (who is not a good player in my opinion). Seeing as it will be only Jackson, Solly and BWP who played with Semedo last season there will be no sense of loyalty on show. Megson will have them wound up for the cameras and I can see an even first half. Second half will see us push on and win by two goals. I hope.
Happy with a point at home to a Megson team??!! After the last 2 games surely you have to be confidant. The Reading game showed that we have real depth and the Bury game showed that we have character too. I was more worried about Bury than Wednesday. The international breaks are not an easy time for a Scot and it's a real blessing to have a Charlton game to look forward to.
I'm with you on this one H. I can see Wednesday being right up the top of the table come the business end of the season. For me this is our biggest test to date. Semedo is bound to have the game of his life so I can't see anything but a draw. In our prediction league I've gone for two all. Will be more than happy to be wrong though lads.
Two sides to this: we're rubbish on the telly; we play better against the better teams (worse against the strugglers). So that's about even. We may also get a 'wannabe more important' ref which will be bad news. Cort will probably play and I'm hoping he'll give us some steel at set pieces. So on balance I'm hoping we'll edge it but a draw won't be a disaster. We can save that for 24th.
Our win at home to Sheff Weds last season was, in my opinion, our best home performance under Parky. Sadly, those performances were few and far between. But the two sides are so different now that I can see a few goals on Monday. Lowe and Madine will be a threat for them, but our passing game will stretch them to the limit. 3-1 for me. COYR!
Cort might play but he'll only be coming off the Bench Robbin. We might not be great on TV but Sheffield Wednesday didnt exactly shower themselves in glory mid-week against Bradford City did they (even if they did cheat with the JPT rules - FINE THEM big and proper) One thing mentioned is Sheff Wed have lost all their Away games so far this season so that could be their achilles heal. 3-1 Charlton
Eddie, sorry but I have to disagree in your assessment of Parky being a manager. That is a clearly bang out of order.
I think the fact they think Semedo is the best thing since sliced bread just shows how much better we are. on owlstalk, they all think they're going to thrash us!
They'll be worse than the EAGLEs We'll bring their promotion bid SCREECHing to a halt. Their fans will be SPOTTED sneaking out. Weaver will be flapping at the ball.
I predict: A tight 1-1 draw, Madine and Hollands. Semedo will get a clap and a round of 'he comes from Portugal', but will be booed off later for fiercely lunging into Dale Stephens making him need treatment.
Anyone who got sucked in by Semedo and his so called love for the club is a MUG. He said what he said, when he said in for one reason and one reason alone... in an attempt to con the fans of our great club into calling for the board to offer him a new contract. He was hoping that the pressure generated by the fans would be enough to 'encourage' the board to make him a favourable offer... end of...!! I take my hat off to the board for not falling for his shenanigans. I've said it time and time again. No doubt he is a good defensive midfield player, but his overall ability whilst in possession of the ball was not good, and imo his lack of ability in this area was holding us back. Now we have Danny Hollands who is imo as capable defensively as Semedo, yet ten times the player with the ball at his feet. Without Semedo our midfield has so much more fluidity and forward momentum to it, do you not agree ladsâ¦? Having said all that I would've loved to have seen him play CB because I think he has all the attributes that make a fine centre half... Onwards and upwards ladsâ¦!!
I'm not FEARFUL about this game at all. Our TALON-ted side will have us OWL-ing for more and all talk of not getting three points will be BARRED as BWP GHOST-s in round the defence leaving our promotion push in very good ELF.
You'd be a real TWIT TO WOO an opposition player by singing a song about him, however good the song might be.
I'm looking forward to this game so much after the weekend. With Sheffield utd and Dons both winning it's the first time we have something to chase, so as silly as it seems, the pressure is on. If BWP plays, we win 3-0, if not I'm thinking maybe a 1-1 draw, basically I think we could get out early with strikers, close it out, without it Wednesday will get a better grip in the game
