Sunderland are considering their options with Didier Ndong and Papy Djilobodji set to miss out on deadline day moves. The Black Cats had been keen to move the pair on before the window shuts but talks over an exit have broken down.

Ndong in particular has been close to an exit on a number of occasions this summer, but failed to agree terms with his suitors.

With the deadline shutting for incoming deals at 5pm, it does make it highly unlikely that Jack Ross will be able to make any further additions to his squad.

It is understood that Ndong and Djilobodji's representatives have floated the idea of the pair returning to the club, something that would pose a difficult dilemma for the club.

They have not reported for pre-season training after their respective loan moves last season, with the Black Cats withholding their wages in the interim period.

Sunderland will consider their options with the issue set to rumble on in the coming days and weeks.

The Portugese transfer window remains open until September 21, with Benfica having showing an interest in Ndong earlier in the window.

Return to the f**king club!!! Come back here after publicly expressing that they do not want to be here any more!!!

    Over my dead body.

What chairman / owner in his right mind is going to make a financial commitment on either of these 2. They have shown anyone who gives a f**k that they are horrible people who care only about themselves

I like the returning to the club notion, as in they want paying the same way Rodwell did for doing **** all.

What a pair of ****s. I'm sincerely hoping there's some way that we can a) not have them around b) not pay their wages/pay up their salary. If the Rodwell debacle taught us anything though we'll have to pay them off if we want rid.

We didn't pay. We cancelled Rodwell contract by mutual agreement.

But we'd forfeit any transfer fees if we did that with these 2. Which is why I said we need to sue them for losses inflicted by their behaviour

Are you sure about that? I hope it is true but I thought we had to pay up his contract, which would be consistent with the rest of his behaviour.

The motive for returning is only to get the pay cheques rolling again. This would surely be our worst option. From the managers point of view, they.ve had no pre-season, fitness levels will be low and they'll be far from match fit (even when eventually they were , would they be any good) . In any case, lets say by next week they were ready to play, how could Ross put them in the team, because if I was one of the current players, I'd be thinking 'f*ck you then, I've worked hard and yet you prefer to play these layabouts'' It would destroy moral. From the clubs point of view, because of the above , a long time just messing about in training, means we'd pay them and they'd still acquire no sale value .
We'll lose out whatever happens. There'll be no option to sue or seek reimbursement- but I'd like the club to go to the FA and say ''we understand you can't help us , but please understand the situations that these two and Rodwell engineered, and set in place measures to give clubs protection from such actions ( and agents ridiculous powers)'' before these types destroy the game

NDongs loan move to Watford has massively back fired on us.
He could/should have stayed with us and contributed in what was a very poor midfield. He hasnt kicked a ball competitively in nearly a year now. At least he'd have been given the chance to put himself in the shop window staying with us, he has become a forgotten man now.
We would also have benefited as a team with him in the squad because our central midfield options were dross last year.

I'm sure. Last year of his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

That's why Ross and Donald praised his (and his agents) behaviour as being understanding and professional

"Rodwell asked to leave Sunderland in January and the club offered to rip up his contract, but Rodwell was reluctant to walk away from such a lucrative deal with no pay-off."

That doesn't sound like someone who would just walk away, yes it was cancelled by mutual consent but what was his motivation to do so if not money, it doesn't specify anywhere that he wasn't paid off.

No way Rodwell walked away without a huge pay-off. That was the reason he never left earlier. We probably saved a couple of month wages on him when it was announced that he was leaving by 'mutual consent'

That link you put up says we reached an agreement. If it wasn't a financial agreement then what the hell was it? A good reference lol

    In the title, reached agreement.

In January when it was still Coleman and Short, there was still problems. Donald and Ross sorted it. I'm pretty sure it was on one of the podcast

    Also here

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...derland-73-000-week-contract-brought-end.html

Jack Rodwell has left Sunderland by mutual consent after they agreed to end his £73,000-a-week contract.

Don't be like that, Daniel. Being abusive and angry isn't good for the soul.

It doesn't say that he didn't get a pay out? I'll start preparing my arse for Fenwicks window if he's left without his palms being crossed with silver.

    https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...t-reached-on-final-year-of-his-deal-1-9224736

Jack Rodwell and Sunderland have reached a settlement that will see the 27-year-old leave the club.

Rodwell was the only player in the squad not to take a pay cut following the club's relegation from the Premier League, but played a minimal role in the following campaign after telling Chris Coleman he wanted to leave the club.

The midfielder turned down the chance to move to the Eredivisie on loan in January but with his wages due to drop this season, his representatives and chairman Stewart Donald have thrashed out a deal. It means the Black Cats will save a significant sum over the coming campaign and Rodwell will seek to pursue other opportunities elsewhere. He has been heavily linked with a move to the MLS.

Hey Jack, we'll not mention your sickness record to any future employers <laugh>

Ha, meant to put a smiley after the smart arse bit

I remember Donald saying they weren't going to pay out his contract, and that Rodwell and his agent were being professional about it. It was the same podcast as when he said Catts agent was a bitch (or words to that effect) for demanding every penny. Donald was contrasting the 2.
