Let me just point to inter and a.c. Milan. Big big clubs but they have dropped out of site in terms of rankings. They will struggle to ever get out of groups for a while.

If we just deliver an average cl campaign and take 15 points we will jump up to being safely in pot 2. We would be probably around 14th to 15th in that case.

The reality then is coefficient only really matters on the day of the draw.... if you win the league you go to pot one, anything else = pot 2.

The winners of the Europa League go automatically into Pot1?

So the club that gets beaten in the CL final after playing better quality teams goes into Pot3.<laugh>

But yeah, our non qualification came back to bite us on the arse.<ok>

the Europa seeding is a sop to the middling clubs who go out at group stage. they do it as the big 6 leagues all get seeded one now... imo if locomotiv are a no 1 seed then the next league on is prob dross anyway

I would have to check.

our seeding is down to 2 coefficient points verses Roma. 2 years out of Europe and Rodgers disasterous groups stage performance ensures that.

it does just go to show the importance of a win over a draw as well. win both legs.. win group games and you get more.

but in the end... 6 of the top 10 and prob the Europa league winners will be in pot 1 all the time.. so that means pot 2 will have 8 of the next clubs so you want to be in top 16 really and at least top 20.

lfc after this season will I hope.overtake spurs in the rankings. they do nothing after groups but get enough consistently to be in pot 2... lesson there.

no Europe = bad news

TBH not even sure on 4th seed. any trip to eastern europe is a pain for us.

Well if you want to link it like that the the LC winners go into the FA cup semi final?

I would be happy if it were my club, the winners could be seen as th 2nd best that season in European KO cups

Have they not gone into pot 1 based on their coefficient and not just the fact they won the EL?

They’re ranked as 4th highest in Europe by their coefficient anyway, so it effectively makes no odds, they’re in the pot they should be in.

Agreed.

They also started the 'omg league winners and current champions in pot one' also
Approach to avoid loss of teams from the same country being top seeds yet we've got Barca, Real and Atletico together <doh>

The EL winners are more like the 17th best team in Europe, since the top 16 qualify for CL knockouts

Best case scenario they're the 3rd best team in Europe and had a CL group with the 1st and 2nd best teams in Europe
 
I bet yaya goes to Chelsea.

It just adds up with the drink water, barely buys. someone mad is making buys at Chelsea and not with managers approval.

yayas agent said he wants to prove he is best cm on prem so that means Chelsea, spurs, l'arse, Fulham, west ham, palace.
