But I think your phrase ”roll the dice” says it all. Easy for a fan to say but the board are responsible for the club and must be more considered than that and a better season than last is an achievement for the club. You cannot grow the club by gambling, ultimately you will lose.

Meantime you will, as you admit, have to settle for what may be a safe pair of hands. But signs of improved entertainment are there so I’m hopeful if not excited

Btw did anyone really say messiah?

Yeah I can understand the board wanting a safe pair of hands, finishing mid table every year and bringing in the PL money which we don't spend must be the boards idea of heaven. But for me I would rather be in the Championship where we have a better chance of competing at the top end of the league if that is our strategy.

I remember people saying what a great job he had done as we were doomed before his arrival and he turned it round. We were 17th when he arrived iirc. It was all very doom and gloom about us staying up as we were on a one way trajectory with Pellegrino. Was probably over on Saintsweb where they were calling him a miracle worker or our saviour where they flip from euphoria to depression in the space of a game.

McCarthy has done sterling work for us...goalkeepers errors are always highlighted more than other players because of the consequences. It could also be said that if outfield players had scored more goals it wouldn't matter so much. He's earned lots of brownie points and has just cashed a couple in.

The target in the Championship is promotion to the Premier League....unless you want the excitement of missing out on promotion season after season just to have the excitement of being in contention only to fail.

Well yes I know that, but I wouldn't mind if we were good enough to be getting promoted to just yoyo between the divisions.

Magic been posting again?...:emoticon-0110-tongu

Had to read that a few times before I understood.
magic beans........ <laugh>

On a serious note, I really hope we string a couple wins together just to lighten the mood on the forum. Every days a inquest so far. Its starting to drag me down. Been really looking forward to this season, but now it feels like there wasn't a summer break.

So alternate good seasons with being crap. Actually quite a good financial plan...get parachute payments and get promoted, then earn EPL money but spend none of it and get relegated. Bad for the old ticker, but great for the club's wallet.

I have just seen the two Leicester goals. I bet Fraser is sat at home wondering how much abuse he’d have got for those.

The thing is Fats, Fraser would have got abuse because he didn't make just one or two mistakes before he started getting stick. There was quite a list of "should've saved that" moments and other more obvious mistakes. Just to be clear, the abuse, jeering and ironic applause was just moronic to the point of embarassment.
Although I've never been a big fan of Fraser, it doesn't blind me to any mistakes made by Alex. I also have concerns about how he conceded both goals, particularly the second. What I am sure of though is, if Alex makes regular mistakes as Fraser did he will also get stick. At the moment he's being judged by how he's done up until now.

I just did some digging and found the depressing news that 1 point from 3 games is our worst start to a season since 2012-13, our first back in the PL, when we had 0 from 3.
Though two of those were Man City and Man United if I remember correctly. Looking back, that squad had a lot less depth, but probably more quality in first 11.
