Not by Nicola or Nigel but by not606. Shame that on the most interesting day in the football season it was nearly impossible to post comments or keep in touch with what was going on. i understand the reasons - server problems due to excessive demand but if we want to encourage more users this was not a good advert. Back to the transfers - its easy to get carried away watching sky sports and seeing deals being announced every few minutes. In reality these deals are all be done by premier league clubs. Only really west ham and maybe leicester (again) signalled any intent of serious signings. The likes of Forest, Derby, cardiff etc etc hardly done any business. As for our signing, never heard of him, not much of a track record or experience in England but he could be another diamond been uncovered. If not then we can review in January. The best news is we were able to hold on to all our players (less puncheon) and so credit to the club for running a happy band of brothers and keeping any vultures at bay. LETS KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING, both on and off the pitch. COYS
We made three good signings, possibly four if Jos works out. Other Championship sides were mainly buying players we would have no interest in, with the exception of Leicester and West Ham. Looks like we're stuck with Puncheon though. Very disappointed with not606, impossible to get conversations going, but that's cured now with an extra server..bolting the stable door and all that. We have a strong side, had a brilliant start..onwards and upwards.
I would be a liar if i said i was't disappointed a striker didn't come in but we have already signed some good players and kept our best ones. I just feel we seem to have messed about on the CB & ST fronts all summer and now run the risk of catching a cold. If we were to sign a Loan player i just hope they are motivated, if we don't then we will have to hope Connolly and Lambo stay fit and available til January.
I believe we have done some excellent business over the summer, Cork being probably the best buy of any club. Be lying though if i said I'm not bothered by us not signing another striker, I thought we would get Jay Rodriguez and recon that deal will be done in January now. Glad we have some defensive cover, although don't know to much about the chap, but again I'm sure the boys have been checking him out for a while. As for Puncheon I can't find any confirmation that he has actually joined QPR, he is not mentioned anywhere, someone please tell me the paperwork went through on time!!!!!
SSN says Puncheon has signed for QPR for an undisclosed fee. They have given it good coverage. Good riddance.
If we are still in the mix come January then players will be falling over themselves to sign. Until then lets keep shaking up the Championship!!
Our problem with signings is that we need the best. There's not only a lot of competition for those players, we have to convince players to move for what is still seen as an unfashionable club. If we get to the Premiership, signings will be easier, but of course we may then want even better players!
Imo with the amazing start we have had i feel it was even more important to sign a quality cb and st, now this lad we signed from celtic could be the quality cb we needed so no comment on him till end of september our midfield is as good as anyones in this league so not at all worried there, i know we have scored goals from all over the park so far but i don't see this continuing with the exception of lallana and guly when he plays so imo we have dropped a major clanger in not getting a quality cb either jay rod or maynard, with one of these and i know its not gaurenteed but i feel come jan we would of been well placed to push on and strenthen again if needed, i now feel come jan we will have dropped to about 10th and will then only be strengthening to consolidate our position. Big chance missed imo.
"as an unfashionable club." Excuse me I turn up in the finest threads looking sharp. But I suppose CBK cancels this out as he turns up looking like one of the Bay City Rollers....
As far as the reports go, we tried to sign a striker and I'm sure Adkins still would love to have one. I think Hooiveld sounds exactly what we need but for some reason it didn't quite work out at Celtic. Sometimes this happens, same with Danny Fox for example. I think we have done very good deals this summer. Cork looks brilliant and the cameos of De Ridder and Fox suggest that they will be as well. I for one am very positive about the season! COYR!!
You cannot ever tell how many visitors a site is likely to get.........The server was added it doubles our capacity but shock horror the visitors to the site started to over load it yet again........So when it spikes in future they will not be able to view unless they become a member. We had over 3 thousand members posting at one time........Haven't had the number of visitors yet but would imagine more that double the members on line..........Just shows how popular this site gets............
