Given that they spend so much time with their backs to the game, maybe it's not that bad a seat!
We were outclassed today - but, as I've said on our board, sometimes you just have to accept the opposition are better than you. City will do what they did to us to most teams in the league. And I can almost certainly guarantee we won't be the only top-six side to get schooled by a team of such high technical and physical quality. They beat Chelsea quite comfortably in the Community Shield as well, and although it may be a glorified friendly in a neutral venue, the difference between the two was still eye-opening.
Also, those of you who are dismissive of Sterling shouldn't be; he has his flaws, but he has come on leaps and bounds since leaving Liverpool. He's still only 23-years old, yet got 26 goals and 13 assists last season. That's damn impressive for a wide player. His pace, dribbling and the fluidity of his movement will cause problems for any defence in Europe. He's a brilliant player.
As for us, it's no secret that we are a work in progress. I'm not expecting us to finish any higher than 5th this season at best, especially if we are targetting the Europa as our main route to get back into the Champions League. But Wenger exerted a lot of control on this club and it will take time before we see the benefits of undoing all of the damage he's done, which includes his coaching methods and the type of players we bought. It still remains to be seen which players will be useful and which players won't be because I'm not sure how many were stifled by Wenger's dogmatic approach and which players simply weren't good enough to begin with.
Whichever way you look at it, it's incredibly frustrating knowing that we moved Stadium, had our austerity years and then, once we were able to spend 'big', decided to spunk it on the likes of Xhaka, Mustafi, Perez, Debuchy, Paulista, Elneny, Welbeck etc. What a waste.
In all honesty, it will take about 2-3 transfer windows before we really see Emery imprint his mark on the team in exactly the way he wants. So for the time being, I'm sure you'll seek great pleasure in our shortcomings and dodgy results (though I pray they won't be as bad as last season)!

He was still ineffective for England though, as he was played too far forward and Southgate's squad didn't have the quality to pick him out.
City always have plenty of excellent passers in their side who can take advantage of his pace and dribbling by picking him out with incisive balls.
There simply isn't anyone available to match the likes of De Bruyne or Silva for the England team.

Come on, PNP. A lot of these guys were/are decent players, but they flopped/are flopping at Spurs. Whether they're playing in the Champions League or not, doesn't change the fact that they have been underwhelming signings. Otherwise, you wouldn't have got rid of most of them.

Some of them were poor signings, but I'd say that most were just inappropriate for our style of play or manager at the time.
Stambouli and Capoue are both pretty good central midfielders, but they wanted to start every week and were kept out by others performing well.
Fazio is fantastic at organising a defence in a side that sits deep, but can't play a high line and isn't a great footballer.
Soldado failed for the same reason that Llorente has so far, which is not being able to play like Kane, basically. Not a bad player.
Chiriches and Paulinho are both ****e, though. No idea how they keep getting such good moves.
I can't figure out why people say David Walliams was the one with the talent...
