Think Alli’s quite good at CM. Could be a way to accommodate Lucas in the side more often as well. Dier, Alli Lucas, Eriksen, Son Pretty decent midfield, pace on both flanks as well which we haven’t really had since Bale and Lennon.
The legion of ex-Mousers would tip their beloved Saltypool for the title even if they sold their entire squad and replaced them with Lincoln City's starting xi Also, since the entire media keeps getting this wrong, Saltypool did not sign Naby Keita this summer: they signed him last summer, and considering he had a £48m release clause the fact they paid significantly more than that just so Taurine FC Leipzig could keep hold of him for an additional year is not the sort of transfer business any club should be conducting - although if it turns out that signing Keita and a goalkeeper doesn't miraculously improve a defence that includes Dejan Lovren, I'm sure those pundits will drag Norbert over the coals for it...
A line up like this or 4-3-3 is what I now believe is being brave. For some games I'd even consider Eriksen and Dele, Moura, Lamela, Son Kane
That'd be really interesting to see. I harped on all summer as to why I weren't fussed if Martial or Zaha joined, our AMs are amongst some of the best in the Prem, having them on the pitch all at once would be crazy good on the front foot, little open at the back but for certain games it could work, mainly against those who we know will just sit back for 90 mins.
Indeed. Teams that we know will defend for the first 80 minutes a la Burnley and then try to grab something in the last 10 minutes. We saw that quite a bit last season. They also don't open up when we would go 1-0 up as they would hope to get the equalizer in those last 10 minutes. We have to attack from the get go and put them to bed. Go 3-0 up hopefully and then maybe play a little bit more conservatively. Not even really open at the back as we would tell the back four to stay back and not play a high line. It would be unnecessary with Son and Moura playing wide and Dele and Eriksen coming forward.
A few unconnected reactions to some points raised: ENIC has earned my gratitude and trust. But they wouldn't benefit from being free of criticism. For some irrational reason, I like no action whatsoever in this window. We beat both CL finalists quite comfortably. It's clear if our players play their best at the biggest moments, we could win the CL this year. But it's up to them. Adding or subtracting a couple of players might represent a distraction from their challenge. I recognize that may be a strange glass half full opinion. And even with that, I would have liked to see us sign a number of teenagers. No doubt the window was to some degree the result of things not going to plan. But who knows what we'll end up thinking about it? Our best buy, I think, was Soldado, because he opened the door for Kane. If he had played well, Kane might still be a reserve. Our worst window was when we sold Bale. Not buying in this window may let a youth player break in who could be another Kane or Dele. It is true that the clubs that tend to do well are those which spend the most. But we've bucked that trend for a decade now, so I wouldn't be too pessimistic on that account alone. The problem is there's been a major change in the last couple of years. Prices for top players, and especially prices for promising players, have gone through the roof. How much would the Eriksen we bought cost today? De Ligt rumors were 60 million or more. And he's a defender. It's fair to say top players have tripled in price in just a couple of years. It's the result of the top clubs no longer being the playthings of rich men, but of rich nations, and of everyone being more thorough in looking for talent .That's priced Spurs out of buying top players, for the most part. And that is beyond ENIC's control. We have spent, on average, but not enough to have bought the starting cm we wanted.
Hope my views on Levy's handling of the TW, according to me, haven't offended anyone...I understand how he has helped our club progress massively. I just felt that this was the window for us. Now it's done and dusted I can't wait to watch the lads do us proud(I hope)because without a doubt our first XI is great...just hope we can steer clear of injuries. Canot wait for KO
tbh @Spurlock any disagreement on this board is normally polite, respectful and or jokey. Can't remember the last actual kick off...think it was last year with the hubby and wife double act.
