I must be reading into things different than many on here. I thought it was abundantly clear we would be unlikely to make any substantial signings. What are people expecting? The days of a new squad every window are thankfully long gone. I don't want to see Freeman go of course none of us do but a £4m+ transfer would financially speaking be super business. I thought we'd largely accepted we were in for a tough couple of years whilst the ship is steadied. Its very easy tapping away at a mobile or tablet to say exactly what the board should do in any given situation but the reality ain't that straightforward.
As you say we dont have the cash to splash out but Mclaren did say we need to bolster the squad with some experienced players on loan a.s.a.p Quite of the few reported targets are apparently signing elsewhere..... Always slip through our fingers no matter what. If we hold onto Freeman that would be a start. ...... Just want to see some reinforcements in sooner than later
This would be fine if said by anyone else. But the fact that it's said by "Uncle Tone" is a slap in the face and a bloody cheek. This is the man who literally landed the club in deep **** by naive and stupid management of the club, who threw cash impatiently because he had stars in his eyes, who couldn't decide on a manager, who turned down a proven manager when had the chance (keeping Warnock the 2nd time), who actually landed us in the situation where we can't buy players... ... and now he's getting tired of fans who are concerned about the fact that we're in deep ****. Tone can **** off, as far as I'm concerned.
Agree with you Fromey Even loan players wages are going to be nigh on impossible to accommodate within our wage structure We will be looking at prem or championship level kids or older players seeing out their contracts Hold steady, we will get some players in. As the Rolling Stones can teach us (paraphrased) - You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you find, you get what you need'
It seems we have rejected Blackburn's bid...and Boro are off hunting somewhere else. Why do we need to sell, if we are not buying.. Expect to see a striker in (on loan). And if Millwall do make a serious bid...Conor might go Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
I have to shoot on here as just seen Freeman stuff Sorry but SB73 is right of course regardless of shifting the debt and thus hopefully protecting the club the owners who are businessmen not real fans will be looking to stop the rot and cash drain The fact that fans put real live and energy to our players is something they will never get TF’s online ego pushes out the media trump style at times. This has nothing to do with the validity of support for our club and will of course upset TF supporters so they question our support incorrectly 279m lost is frankly very poor business management in any business and fully deserves question. Time to look at this carefully imo There will be plenty of new opportunities from new investors or owners based on our London base and heritage I would swap the owners and leadership of our club in a heartbeat and start over No one could do this worse My own experience working with our club was a real shock to me Freeman is just one season has become a value to the current team. If he is sold to a league rival then the answers look clear to me
Teddy Bass Where’s there’s a will there’s a way And there’s always a ****ing way The turn by the fans towards the owners/ board is 100% justified Crunch time imo 42M fine fully deserved ... remember we are paying that ... that’s not been written off Even if they do find a PR way of the money going to Grenfil Victims Pink Shirts
Sexy Beast referencing. Great movie, modeled the latter part of my life on Gal. Well the gold speedos, fake tan, beer belly and peroxide Barnet part
I have to say that anyone who thinks selling Freeman is good business is wrong. As a season ticket holder watching players like him make our less than average seasons bearable. Without him (and Smithies) our team look like a League One team which is where we will be next season. Getting relegated is not good business, not for £4m.
Would you have been happy if 'Tone' (and the other owners) had ****ed off when the club still owed them £280m, and they had demanded it all back, a la Chris Wright? Of course there has been reckless management of the club, but they have paid for their mistakes out of their own pockets and they have stayed on to try and put the club back on an even financial keel. Better late than never. The fine wasn't £42m, it was £17m (payable over 10 years) with £3m costs. The other £22m was more shareholder debt converted to equity.
Are you defending him? I'm not disputing that his money is useful now. I'm saying he essentially got us into this mess and now we need his money to survive. Sounds like an abusive relationship! I want his money. But I want him as far away from decision making as possible. Actual, in the most ideal situation I'd have him break all ties with QPR for someone else to come in and provide, someone who actually has a clue. I'm not holding my breath, though. And you completely missed my main point... he's publicly telling us he's tired of fans' concern. And yet he is perhaps the biggest culprit in our state of affairs. It beggars belief. Do you not agree with that point?
Cheers Stan, I'll watch my back Seriously though, i am surprised that many on here are moaning about the lack of signings Its been clear - to me at least - that we are shopping in poundland and the clearance bins. Even the Aldi and Lidl players are out of our league right now
I am glad I wasn't the only one who thought that tweet was arrogant. "At least we have players that others want". Sorry Tony, I thought your idea was bring in players that want to play for QPR and it's not just about money but you are now happy that others want them? Something is not right with that tweet.
He's not saying he's tired of fans' concern though is he? He's saying he's tired of all the **** about Freeman. He said about a week ago that Freeman wasn't for sale and he is now saying that all offers have been rejected. If Freeman now goes you will be entitled to moan.
The Hefele deal mirrors other failed deals in this window. We have to accept that we are 'toxic' in terms of attractiveness to even 'journeymen' type players. If we make a poor start I fear things may turn very ugly very quickly especially if we get the 'have patience' tweets from TF...
I agree Sutfol. I think having lost our key defensive players we need to keep our best attacking players. Based on what he did last season and the market I'd have thought Freeman's value closer to 10 million, but I wouldn't want to see him sold even for that unless we used it to re-strengthen our defence and on a new striker. But it looks to late for that now. Can't see us achieving much in the loan market. I don't really see that Eze is ready to replace Freeman in the 10 position over the whole season either. I think if Freeman stays Eze may become back up there, or played wide or off a striker.
Is Clint a free agent? I'd have him back in a heartbeat on a pay per play basis - if he was up for it. Throw in a coaching role to sweeten the deal Even 10 games worth would bring some nous and guidance to the defence That's where i think we are at right now
The lack of players coming in is one thing which we can all sort of understand given the recent financial debacle. If, however, they are not coming because we are seen as a basket case of a badly run club with no prospect of success, that is immensely more concerning since it will take many seasons to change that image (as indeed it has taken many seasons to create it!).
