Bournemouth following our old model. Retain as much of the core that got them there as possible, keep wages relatively low, supplement by spending aggressively on younger players. Still very much a work in progress, but they're my pick to surprise this year, because they have some seriously talented kiddies. Could also blow up in their faces, but hey.

Yeah I was talking about them to a mate the other day saying I think they might be strong this year.

Stuck my neck out for 9th in the prediction thread. Their Swiss cheese defense remains a question mark, but they should improve there, and a relentless central mid like Lerna is a good buy given their love of pushing people forward, much as spending a club record fee on a DM in Wanyama seemed like an odd use of funds to some until seeing how much protection it granted our back four.

How many Saints fans have different opinions about our players?, just because a few go on the forums saying that they are happy that he is going it doesn't mean that he was universally unpopular there.

I'm not saying that he is going to be the next Mahrez, because I know very little about him, but I would prefer to wait and see and make a judgement rather than stats and the words of others.

Why do players always get judged by how many goals they score?, he's not even a Striker, he might have created many, many chances in those games. Sounded like Puel was buying him more for his creativity.

He had an amazing season or two but has fallen out of form and favour. If they get him back to where he was we will be looking on enviously. However, Puels abillty to get the best out of attacking players is questionable.

Sure, opinions vary. However, I do differentiate between those who suddenly decide that a player is garbage because they're angling for their big move, and situations like Ghezzal, where the general agreement for about a year in that thread was that they'd need to loan him out or simply terminate his contract, only for Leicester to appear waving 15m.

Big net spenders? As brendy has already pointed out, both WBA and Stoke have/had relatively low net spends.
Wouldn't call a net spend of £ EIGHTY-FIVE MILLION 'small change'.
Seem to recall the "Marcus Liebherr Philosophy/ Project" when he saved (acquired) Saints was that the club should run on a self-financing basis with no debts. Proof of the pudding shown in that table; no?
