DT I have not been doing my usual reading on French politics so I will bow to your knowledge re Macron. He seems to have gained in popularity since a few weeks ago then.
Your comments on the EU are laughable though.

He had a rough start as remember he had le Pen 50/50 at one point . Don’t expect any politician to win over the people but he is on the up and is Pro EU

Therefore with Germany going through the same as he did I fully expect there to be less chance of a EU degrade. It may change but it will no concern for the U.K.

It does concern us as we deal with Europe before and after Brexit. Trade just won't stop. If you think different you are way off the mark. In fact, I believe that trade may even be as good if not better. It will also concern us when it collapses which I believe it will. Just to clarify I don't want it to collapse but I think it will. Too much nationalism growing.

We were told that Merkel was the head of Europe and look what happened to her? Macron is pro-EU and I respect his vision but sadly not everyone else does. Remember if there is a no deal and the EU play up there will be a lot of unemployed French and we all know how the will react to that. $ years in modern politics changes very quickly. You should know that with Trump/Brexit the demise of Merkel and 5 star running Italy.

Interesting comment I heard from Ian Duncan Smith on the wireless, to the effect that ‘no deal only means no trade deal and going on to WTO terms’.

As we all know Mr Smith has some basic intelligence issues, otherwise I might, god forbid, be doubting his honesty (he has of course a record of lying about his qualifications).

If there is no deal, it means there is no exit deal, nowt to do with trade. If there is no exit deal there is no transition period. If there is no transition period then all the little things we take for granted will disappear overnight. Yep, all those things about customs clearance, medicines logistics and standards, aircraft safety checks etc etc, all the things we aren’t supposed to mention because it’s scaremongering.The EU published its guidance for sectors affected in these circumstances a few weeks ago. HM Government has promised to issue their 60 different technical guidance documents ‘at some stage’. But they are all on holiday now, so a bit much to expect anything for a few weeks.

I know you don’t rate the way the government is doing this, and here’s another reason why you shouldn’t. In the absence of any guidance, big Pharma companies which usually hold 4 weeks of stock in this country are mostly increasingly the levels to up to 14 weeks. They have asked the government whether this will be sufficient in the event of no deal, no transition. And had no response.

The government is managing to cock things up, however, they didn't start well (you all know my theory why). It now seems too little too late. This trip to France just stinks of desperation and she will probably give away something else to secure a deal. The whole thing has been handled wrongly. We missed our chance.
It will be the end of May with a bit of luck.
As for the pharma stuff, I am fortunate to have a top mate who works in the industry (QA). He says it is complicated with all the license stuff. he is probably worried that he will have to do more work.
I am not saying that this will all be easy but I know it will never be as bad as some are claiming. It's the usual scaremongerers.

Funny you should say that because a think tank believe that we could actually prosper and get a better deal if we walk away. I think it is on the bases that it would hurt jobs in the EU and people would then be eurosceptic. I believe this as well.

If there's no deal, there will be a managed move onto WTO rules because it's in UK and EU interests to do so. Sorry, Stan, but all this crap about planes not flying is the same as Camerons WW3 scenario. People just aren't going to get scared by it because it won't happen. The EU is a bully but they are pragmatic too. Trying to deliver a punishment beating to the UK would cause huge schisms in the EU because there are member states (not France) that want continuous good relations with us.

And we keep £39bn and the EU will have to make it's case before an international arbitration which could take decades.

Britain is bracing itself for a marmalade famine after #Brexit. With tariffs imposed the price of oranges from the EU will soar, pricing out the average housewife/husband from from purchasing the fruity preserve. They really didn't know what they were voting for.
