In previous seasons - not just under Duchatelet, but under his buffoonish predecessors Slater & Jiminez and of course, Murray, we would be scrambling around for freebies & loans at this stage to plug the gaps.

This time last season Gobbo was still puffing out of his fat arse about his “fantastic budget”, and Katrien was sending out the STs in pretty little boxes.

This season - nothing. Just platitudinous notes of defiance from Bowyer about “expecting a top 2 finish”. More chance of me pairing up with Natalie Sawyer on Celebrity Love Island next year, or a Millwall fan giving up on the lions & defecting to Charlton.

this has got to be the worst off season for any team to ever exist.

i'm not even bothered if we win or lose, let alone watching it.

read somewhere today that bowyer is aiming for top 2. with 17 less players, anything not tied down sold off. he has to be off his nut.

If I was in the UK tomorrow, and money was not an object, I'd be off to Bath v Dartford at the lovely Twerton Park ground. Great day out in the west country. If RD cannot be bothered to cover the ever growing gaps in our squad, why would I spend money to watch them?
100% behind Elfs and Dick. Non league when I'm back home.

Tribal loyalty to the badge.

Up to a point. But like the famous occasion when KM introduced the idea of poor restaurant service and food as a silly metaphor for football, there's a limit to how much I 'm prepared to be taken for granted before I stop coming.
On this occasion it's academic as I'm abroad, but if the owner can't be bothered to maintain the club, why pay to watch?

Sunderland have already sold 26,000 tickets in advance of Saturday’s game and are hoping to beat Man City’s L1 attendance record.

We could have contributed 450 and a half towards that if @baraettmattesvensson had come.
The record is held by Sheffield Wednesday, with about 50k, I believe. We certainly won't be beating that.

Fans have been advised to seek alternative ways to get to Sunderland from Newcastle.

There is a power failure on the line discovered overnight.

Tyne and Wear buses are trying to organise emergency shuttle buses.
